I don't understand why people get dogs if they don't want to be responsible for them. Your laziness is not other people's problem. Ditto for the people who walk their dog off leash, or poorly leashed.

+1000 with the abandoned bagged poop. Yuck, and completely pointless!

Has the thought crossed your mind that they might be coming back the way they came and will be picking it up on the way back? I do this so I don't have to carry a smelly bag on to a place that I will be returning from.

Well then you clearly have been forgetting where you left them, because I've been finding your little bags of shit at the end of my driveway, next to my mailbox, hanging from the street sign at the corner, etc. I don't care if you are coming back in two minutes or twenty minutes; carry your own little bag around on your walk like the rest of us.

you are wrong. Dog and cat poop is very bad for the environment and wildlife. They have extremely dangerous bacteria in them that can kill fish and turtles in ponds. Their pee can burn grass on lawns. It seems you are very ignorant and not well educated.

DCUM start reporting these people to the authorities.

So you think car exhaust is less harmful than a little dog poop.

Ok.

Tell ya what. I'll sit inside a closed garage next to a pile of dog poop for a few hours, and you do the same with a car with the motor running.

Then we'll see who's right.

Don't be an idiot. Pet feces is unsightly, smelly, and does not "fertilize the grass and trees." And when I step in it, it also isn't much help to my shoes, carpets and floors. Clean up your dog shit.

+1 just carry it. You picked it up, (good) carrying it is part of the deal, and don't put it in anyone else's trash. But seriously, wtf with hanging it up!?

I've noticed this all over the place and especially in Rock Creek Park - I presume these owners have every intention of picking the bags up because it doesn't otherwise make sense to bag your dogs poop but I think when people are out walking they just aren't likely to remember to get the poop on the way back. So yeah just carry the bags with you so you know that they are properly disposed.

Nope, you jolly well carry it all the way, tie it to the leash, or dispose of it PROPERLY in the appropriate receptacle (a city trash can, not someone's empty trash, or even worse, recycling). If I can do it, so can you!

No.

Often my dog will poop along the pipestem I live on, on the way out for a long walk. You want me to carry a bag of poop for 2 miles round trip vs. leaving it and picking it upon return? Sure.

My poop bags are colorful and I see them upon return.

That doesn't make me lazy. Why would I walk around 2 miles with a smelly bag of poop when I know I will retrieve it on my way back to my house.

I see poop bags thrown into the bushes and trees in my park, often hanging in the branches. There is definitely a contingent of people who bag but don't dispose. I have no idea why they do it, unless it's because they bag when someone is looking and then toss it unobserved.

If your dog poop is near your house at the beginning of a long walk, you take the poop back to your house, dispose of it there, and then cut your long walk slightly shorter. There is no excuse for leaving your dog’s poo in someone else’s yard for any amount of time. You may forget it’s there or they may step in it by mistake.

pp, if you don't want to carry your dog's poop, you should not have gotten a dog. Leaving it for any length of time is irresponsible.

Wrong again. You put it in your own trash can since you're near your house. THIS IS WHAT WE DO. Don't think you're so special.

And those living in and around the Edgemoor neighborhood of Bethesda, SHAME on those who don't pick up. It's not that cold. It's not that rainy.

Yes it has been that cold. And the one day it wasn't cold, it was rainy

You shouldn't own a dog if you think like that. I walked my dog in the cold, even in the middle of the night (new puppy) and ALWAYS picked up. Don't be ridiculous. If you have a dog, you pick up in all weather. And don't get me started with rain. Rain is a non-event.
