Who Are the Annoying People Who Ride Their Bikes on River Road During Morning Rush Hour???

Anonymous
Bikers are annoying.

Non-motorized bikes and cars do not belong on the same road because it's dangerous.

People who support this stupidity are annoying.

Keep asserting your right to get run over by cars. I hope it makes you feel healthy and productive.

I'd either get a car like everyone else, or take a bus. But it's idiotic to risk your life (it it really IS that dangerous) just to get to work.

You can't tell me a bike is the ONLY option these people have. No one believes that.

Therefore it's a choice. And they are CHOOSING to risk their life to get to ....... their desk at work.

That's just F'ing stupid.

If I'm gonna risk my life, it'll be to save my kids or my wife. Not for getting to my job.

For a lot of people, it is the best option. Maybe they don't own a car, or they are a 1 car family. Maybe the bus in their neighborhood isn't reliable, or maybe they like saving the aggregate time of riding to work and not having to go to a gym to work out. Whatever it is, you are in incredibly selfish and myopic person. Since when is operating a car a god given right?

In 'Merica!! Proof that ignorant hillbillies can be behind the wheel of a BMW.

Here's your Darwin award.

So the question is, why doesn't everyone bike to work?

Try it - you will never go back to a car or metro...

Not healthy when you get killed by a car

Maybe they're commuting by bike to work. Do you have a better suggestion for where one should bike to get where they're going? Maybe you should advocate with the city for separated bike lanes in your area.

Aww, that's cute, you think they'd use them. I can't tell you how many times I've driven through DC where there's a beautiful bike lane, a car lane, and a parking lane and a biker or two biking in car lane, happily letting people pass around him and nearly get into accidents.

If you can't safely pass a bicyclist then maybe you should give up your drivers license.

There are many legitimate reasons to be out of the bike lane, including: passing slower bicyclists, cats parked in the bike lane (ahem), dangerous debris in the bike lane, and shifting left to make a left turn.

Also, it's a general lane, not a car lane. Car only Lanes are the highways. You don't see bikes on there.

True story: I saw a guy biking on the shoulder in 267. Another dude was getting on 495 from Tysons, also on a bike, by way of 123.

I will say that it's not the passing that's the problem; on a lot of two-way streets, especially winding ones, the driver coming at the passing car could simply not see the passing car for whatever reason. It's incredibly unsafe, especially during rush hour.

You annoy me by driving your car on MY road. Me and my car are more important than you and you should just get off the road and out of MY way. What are you even doing? Going to yoga and starbucks? I am more important than you so go away.

ROADS are built for CARS dumba$$.

This is such a bs argument. Roads were built for cars. Before cars there were no roads. No-one built roads for bikes. You weirdo cyclists need to come back to reality and stop with the ridiculous arguments. Roads are for cars, trucks, motorcycles and the like, all of which are capable of maintaining the proper speed and not interrupting the flow of traffic. Bike paths and bike lanes are for bikes. Sooner or later when folks wake up to the truth of this because more and more cyclists die on roads this will eventually become the law. Its just a matter of time. And, eventually cars won't use gas anymore, they will all use alternative fuels and that other ludicrous argument you cyclists use, that you are the future because cars pollute and contribute to global warming, yeah that argument, that one is going to become meaningless sooner than later too.

Read the law, they're for everyone. Please either pull your head out of your ass or just cram it in far enough that no one needs to hear your bleating anymore.

So your saying that before cars there was no such thing as a road? Are you a strong proponent of alternative facts?

Have you actually looked at death rates for driving vs. cycling? This isn't a big concern, especially for those of us bicyclists who don't run red lights.

So don't kill cyclists.

Hmmm.. I think roads were paved so that CARS could drive on them. At some point cyclists decided they had a right to muscle in on the roads built for CARS. It is so annoying.

Not like the paved, lined, marked, roads of today with stop lights and signs etc... in this country, which were built for cars. You are clearly being purposefully obtuse. We are talking about the roads of today and they were built for cars.

Roads are for everyone. Paving over them with public money doesn't give you the exclusive right to them. I think what you're looking for is a private road. Good luck with that.
