Be honest. Wouldn't your family truly prefer the Atlantis Resort over Martha's Vineyard or Maine?

Not everyone likes the beaches. There is plenty to do in Nantucket that can fill your time without even going in the ocean or sound.

There plenty to do at Atlantis too. I've actually been there a half dozen times and never been to the beach.

That's great but, I still prefer Nantucket, thank you.

Do you have kids? Ask them if they want to go to Atlantis this year instead of Nantucket. I bet their eyes will light up.

Np who took your challenge and asked the kids. They had never heard of Atlantis and thought I meant Atlanta. They chose Nantucket.

Hahaha

Best thing about Maine. Lack of tourists and people. No summer crowds. My parents that live on the Cape go to Maine for the summer.

Can you two feral children lovers recommend your beach towns? I have some kids who would really blend in.

Actually my kids prefer something in between. They don't like the beaches like Atlantis because it's too hot, the sand is too hot. And New England the water is too cold.

They like beaches around here where the sand doesn't get as hot, but the water is still warm enough.

Casco Bay islands off Portland, ME. I think it's too crowded over 4th of July weekend, but otherwise it's not too crowded.

We go to a different island in the Caribbean every winter and I wasn't impressed by Atlantis at all. We did a day trip to the Blue Lagoon, which gets good reviews on Trip Advisor, and I wasn't impressed by that much either. It was kind of...ick. I much prefer to do VBRO and stay on a private beach. I don't like to be surrounded by people when we're on the beach.

Water parks are an exercise in hell.

Yes, I have kids and we have been going to Nantucket to visit grandparents for years now. They own a house if that makes a difference. We all get along and my kids enjoy spending time with their grandparents. So, glad you like Atlantis resort but, we ( my kids included) would rather do our own thing.

Free beats paying $1000 a night for a room too.

Totally agree with this!! I love Caribbean in winter and closer east coast beach in summer.

This should be its own thread!! We try for a mix of both, I think.

But--we all love the outdoors. We swim in gorgeous lakes and my kids love the cold ocean.

I have been eating pounds of lobster and haddock nothing fried. My 9-year old is going to grow a shell soon he loves the lobster so much.

We are near a small town with better restaurants than anything in DC. The population is highly educated. No dumb white trashy lume most of Atlantis.

I never want to come home.

Glorious 75 degree days and a light sweater at night.

No swamp ass and stifling humidity.

This! I hate over-stimulating places. Places I don't find appealing: huge resorts, Disney, music festivals. I'd love to do a nice long trip to beautiful Maine.

Have you been? My kids beg after each commercial they see on it.

I have. Food poisoning everywhere. Staff is apathetic and theft is rampant. Never again
