The classroom plans as of now are:
Walter Reed: 4 upper elementary classrooms and 4 lower elementary classrooms
South Dakota Avenue: 4 primary classrooms and 2 lower elementary classrooms
Missouri Avenue: 2 lower elementary classrooms and 5 primary classrooms (with one of the five transferring from South Dakota)

I don't see an extra class?

There are currently 3 primary at MO. They are adding one and Luna is moving.

how many primary classrooms are at SD this year?

SD:
Aire
Agua
Tierra
Sol

Missouri:

so based on this, there are currently 5 primary at SD? So 5 + 3 (current MO) = 8. Next year = 9 (4 at SD, 5 at MO). Isn't that a brand new additional class? Am I missing something (not asking sarcastically, my numbers could be wrong or I could be missing something)?

So IF there's a new class, can someone shed light on the numbers in the primary classes across the 3 grades? We're in the teens on the PK4 waitlist after initial admits.

There are 10 primary kids per class. Theoretically if they open a new class, that would be 10 additional kids.

They may have already taken new class into consideration with first round of offers. I'm not sure. But they are definitely opening a new class.

Would this mean good news for kindergarten families?

High 50s is a possibility. It usually goes into 50s, not beyond. But, waitlist doesn't get moving until school starts. Last year we were only a few numbers beyond those who received initial offer and got in when school started. I noticed then that list had moved to 50s. But list does not move at all during summer because those who initially get in enroll and don't give up their spots until the last minute. So don't bother checking list every day like I did.

Geez that sucks, they just hang onto their seat because they're double-enrolled elsewhere, I imagine? That is also nerve wracking because, that means my daughter will be all oriented elsewhere and we'd have to move her. At least by then I hope they have clear info on school locations in coming years, which is the biggest factor for us.

They probably will not, unfortunately. But one can hope. We are in the same position (except we are an accepted family).

They won't. This has literally been an issue since they opened 14 years ago.

If you need facility certainty and want Spanish, at this point you need to focus on DC Bilingual or DCPS (Stokes is opening location 2 and it isnt clear how they will place people in buildlings; MV may be opening a second location as well).

Anyone get called recently? Since there is no update to the website, this might be the best hope of knowing of any movement.

If there is a new class being formed, when would we expect to see the waitlist move?

Correcting my prior statement, June 1. At that point I feel you'll see tons of movement.

I was told they already took the new class into consideration when they made their initial offers.
