My kid hasn't taken a bath since last Sunday

oooooohhhh now I'm going to run and change what I do because a bunch of people I don't know talk about me behind my back. Sorry, but I'm not a 12 year old girl anymore. I don't really care what strangers say about me.

But actually ask a scientist- some dirt is good for kids.

Yep. My kid took weekly baths unless they were exceptionally dirty until recently. He's 9 now and we've upped it to twice a week. For those of you with questions:

Bottoms/bums: He uses a wet wipe on his bottom.
Hygiene habits: He complained the first couple times we made him bathe on Wednesday (But "bath day" is Sundays....) but now is pretty used to it.
Other body parts: He washes his face twice a day and his hands several times a day.

Mine do every other or occasionally every third day.

No allergies and they're rarely sick, FWIW. Correlation, maybe, but it does make me wonder about the "some dirt is good for kids" theory.

But why? Is it so hard to take a bath or shower? Why not set them up for good hygiene habits?

What about behind ears, under arms, crotch? Sweat builds up.

I don't wash my hair everyday but everyone should take a quick rinse.

And what about summer when they go to the pool? Do they sleep with chlorine all over their skin/hair?

I hope this is a joke...every 10 days???? Are you serious??

I think you forgot the line - I feel sorry for your child.

She isn't an adult with body odor, hon. It will be ok.

I'm sorry but my 4 year old's hair starts smelling after two days without a bath -- kids DO get dirty, they do have body oils, they do shed skin. I don't bathe my kids every day, but almost a week is far too much.

So, what's your excuse? Why didn't you bathe your child?

You do realize that not everyone belongs to a swim club and has kids that go swimming every day or even every weekend in the summer, right? Rich people are so clueless.

Bathing habits evolve over time. Our kids do every other night unless they get especially sweaty/dirty. However, my 9-year old daughter is really starting to stink after a day. I'm trying to get her into the habit of at least washing her body every night (not necessarily hair). The 5-year old doesn't stink in the same way.

When our kids go swimming we skip baths. Chlorine kills the germs.

This is fine. The only downside is that it might be harder to get them to bathe when they get older and actually do stink.

3 days is the max my daughter can go without washing her hair before it starts getting greasy. My son swims 3 times a week and takes a quick shower after. I give him a shampoo/soap wash, but he always smells like chlorine. His hair always looks dry.

I'm not sure if some of you aren't making this up, it's so shocking to me.

many apartment communities, even in poor areas, come with pools. Also DC public pools are free for DC residents.
