In the car?

I think you could eat it in the car if the egg was cooked firm, not runny.

Pop two pieces of bread into the toaster to lightly toast, spray a pan with nonstick, cook the egg flipping it to make sure that the yolk is not too runny, put a little butter on the toast, put the egg on one piece of toast, top with cheese, cover with the other piece of toast, cut in two...put on a paper plate and eat in the car.

Agreed, this could be eaten in the car. My kids have often had plates of food in the car on the way to somewhere.

I eat overnight oats every morning for breakfast, I do mine in a mason jar. They are very filling and keep you full. I do oats/chia seeds/ vanilla extract/vanilla greek yogurt/unsweetned plain almond milk or sometimes vanilla almond milk. I'd skip the yogurt if you plan to warm them before eating, use more milk instead. I eat mine cold. Literally takes 2 minutes to mix it up all the night before.

pp, here. I left out my sweetener, I either use honey or maple syrup to sweeten.

I also should add you can also add some powdered peanut butter and cocoa powder and do chocolate peanut butter overnight oats. There are numerous yummy recipes, I'm just boring and usually stick to vanilla flavored.

It's gross to eat food in the car? AND a choking hazard? Ok.

Make your own yogurt parfaits in a small mason jar - can make 5 on weekend, layer of yogurt, layer of fruit, layer of yogurt, layer of fruit. Pop the top in the morning and add granola. Voila!

The first three ingredients are flour! 30 g carbs vs 14 G protein.

And I SWEAR that people were just decrying protein powder for kids on the smoothies thread . Brown sugar? NOT HIGH PROTEIN.

Whole grains have lots of really good available protein. It doesn't all have to come from an animal. and kids need carbohydrates. They shouldn't be running around on Atkins diet. 14 grams of protein and 30 grams of carbs seems like a fine balance for a child

Agreed. 30g of whole grain carbs + 14g protein is terrific. A middle-aged woman might be watching her carbs (like me), but this mix is great for healthy kids.

I make nearly a dozen breakfast burritos on Sunday nights. Whole famiky eats them.

Combos include: sausage, bacon, ham, cheeses, mushrooms, spinach, peppers, and even breakfast potatoes if i have leftover potatoes from dinner.

I'm sure these will be decried but here are some on the go breakfasts my kids eat:

- egg quesadilla - use ww tortilla, scramble and egg in the pan, push to side and lay out tortilla, move eggs on top plus a handful of cheese, fold tortilla closed, heat till warm and cheese is melted (takes 5 min to make, then wrap in tin foil for the road)
- turkey sausages plus one of those veggie/fruit muffins from freezer section
- cream cheese and lox on a mini bagel eaten sandwich-style
- dry cereal like quaker oat sauares or kashi island vanilla with a thermos of milk (they eat them separately)
- van's power grain waffles toasted with butter

We have meat ready in fridge and then use it in Hamilton Beach breakfast sandwich maker. Works great. Can out in egg, cheese, meat, or whatever

Breakfast burritos. I make mine ahead and freeze. Microwave in the AM. Combination of turkey sausage, scrambled eggs and cheese (japaleno or cheddar). I prepare 20 smaller size burritos and freeze in pairs. It's easier to reheat if you thaw the burrito overnight.

Toast and bread are high carb and not high protein.

This is true for "whole wheat bread" as well. Whole grain breads have less carbs but that is not the same as "Whole wheat bread"

Milk has some protein but it also has a lot of sugar.

Cooked eggs reheated smell gross. They just do.

In terms of high protein, you have to think beyond the traditional breakfast foods. Try things like - cheese, nuts, avocado, hard boiled eggs. cold roasted chicken

You could also do protein bars but they do have a lot of added stuff and you need to make sure they do not have a high concentration of sugar alcohols (can cause stomach upset)
