She was living in Arlington (or at least somewhere in Northern Virginia) when the sh*t hit the fan about Josh. The woman was not living an isolated cultish life. She was quite happy being in the public eye and she had an outpouring of support when this news came out. People felt horrible for Anna and she probably had access to a lot more help than average.

If she chose to stay with Josh, that is on Anna.

-Agree that probably no one is physically forcing her to stay in the marriage, but what are the consequences for her if she divorces him? There is a lot of pressure in that circle not to give up on a marriage.

She does not live a free life in the same way that most Americans live a free life. She lives life as an insulated member of an extremely conservative cult.

I thought she was attending kiddie "Mommy and Me" type classes with 1 or more of her kids. She wasn't living in an isolated cult somewhere in the sticks of Maryland. She was getting out, shopping, taking her kids places. I'm sure she attracted attention wherever she went.

Probably her breaking free from Josh would have gotten her own reality t.v. program. She could have done it, but she chose to stay married to Josh. She apparently wants that life and that lifestyle. No one is forcing her to stay in it.

Yet due to her religion, she stayed w/him and is now continuing to bear children w/this sick man.

MIL has 19 kids. DIL had 4 kids, and is pregnant with 5th.

WHat choices in life did she get? If she was raised by normal parents and was well educated she would have had options. Her husband is a sex offender who is not above sexual violence. I have a lot of sympathy for her. She could be a victim of domestic rape. Have some compassion.
