Not sure what you are implying but I doubt that he forced her to have sex. If she didn't want to be around him, she wouldn't be around him.

They married each other wanting to have a big family. They apparently STILL want to have a big family even after the big scandal. And that's exactly what they are doing.

Personally, I think I would have kept it at 4 kids if I were Anna. But I'm not Anna.

It's not so simple in their cult. The women are raised to be submissive and do what they need to do to make their marriages work. She was blamed for his indiscretions.

I'm not sure if there was a lot of pressure on her to stay. From what I read, many people in her family were encouraging her to leave.

She was living in Arlington (or at least somewhere in Northern Virginia) when the sh*t hit the fan about Josh. The woman was not living an isolated cultish life. She was quite happy being in the public eye and she had an outpouring of support when this news came out. People felt horrible for Anna and she probably had access to a lot more help than average.

If she chose to stay with Josh, that is on Anna.

-Maryland.

-You can be in the "public eye" and not associate with that public, thanks to the magic of cameras. Cameras = $$ for the Dugger clan. We have all been exposed to the Duggars, but to say that they have been immersed in much culture outside of their own cultish families and compounds is a joke.

-What form did that "help" take?

-Agree that probably no one is physically forcing her to stay in the marriage, but what are the consequences for her if she divorces him? There is a lot of pressure in that circle not to give up on a marriage.

She does not live a free life in the same way that most Americans live a free life. She lives life as an insulated member of an extremely conservative cult.

She and Josh lived in a suburban DC area neighborhood when all of this stuff hit the fan. She was going out to the same grocery stores and playgrounds as everyone else. She had neighbors that weren't involved in her religion, at least not that I've heard.

I guess my point is, she wasn't being isolated and forced to only be around other members of her religious group. She was out and about in the world and she could see first hand how other women were living and how other families were raising their kids.

I think that she is old enough to be responsible for choosing to stay with her husband. Maybe she thinks that she's made the right choice for her and her kids.

Even though Mike Keller is a preacher and he and his wife Suzette are very religious they are not strange and cult like like the Duggars. The reason they live in a small home on farmland is because they gave up materialism to form ministry for prisoners. Mike Keller is very passionate about this. Even though two of their children have left the religion, including a daughter with a baby out of wedlock, they still see and support their children.

Anna's situation was interesting and I'll give you some gossip. In the "Gothard" religion a woman's countenance is everything. Anna's face isn't symmetrical which is a big deal to Gothard - that and wavy hair. The fact that Josh "Gothard Royalty" Duggar wanted to marry her was a big deal. I think if Mike and Suzette knew more about their future In Laws they may not have given permission. But it was a BIG deal at the time to marry into the Duggar family. Their family is about service to others. One of her sisters travels the country with her family ministering to the poor.

However you feel about religion, the Kellers are good people. I can't say the same for the Duggars.

Seriously, I didn't know that about Anna's family but she strikes me as a sweet, nice person. I can see how she and her family could have been a bit awed and "star struck" by the prospect of Anna marrying into the Duggar family. It sounds as though they are the type of people who would have supported Anna if she had decided to leave Josh, too.

I do think that Anna is staying because she thinks that is the right thing for her to do. Hopefully she's right.

I find this so disturbing. Not surprising, but troubling.
