You really sound unhinged. What is your problem? Get back on the med lady. |
See OP real estate agents. Don't trust them. |
For our kids, yes, Towson and UMBC will be disappointing results. I'd not characterize it as a failure though. |
I'm unhinged because I don't think kids that go to Towson are failures? You need some self reflection. Also meds don't fix everything wootton mom, how about create a healthy atmosphere for your child and say no to meds. |
OP, do you want your kids in an environment where Towson and UMBC are disappointments? So sad. |
If OP considers Towson or UMBC a success, then, yes, I'd agree QO is fine. |
| There are many well rounded ways to skin a cat than hyper academic competition that's about to be trolled by AI. |
| Pp may I ask what issues Wootton has? |
I also think if OP would like her kids to go to and Ivy or SLAC, QO would be great. But your children will have the extra advantage of doing it a nicer environment with friends who are not shamed for going to Florida State, UMBC, Arizona State, Penn State and other "wootton disappointments". |
Well, someone needs to fill the bottom half. |
How do you find this information? |
http://www.bethesdamagazine.com/Bethesda-Magazine/September-October-2016/The-College-Chart/index.php?cparticle=7&siarticle=6#artanc wootton number (plus other w schools, bcc, RM, and Blair) is here. Over 73% admitted from wootton. umd's admit rate is around 47% so it's SIGNIFICANTLY higher. |
| But your child is the same kid regardless of which school they attend. I don't believe their changes of a particular college will change. Will they become smarter if they go to Wootton? No..they will just be at a school with wealthier kids who are more likely to get into good schools...won't change their own specific chances. |
You are completely underestimating the importance of school environment including peers and school administrators/teachers. |
Maybe not. We did magnet track (no kids at Wootton or QO) for MS and HS. Coming out of MS magnet, a few of DC's friends were not accepted to HS magnets so they ended up going back to home schools. But after 4 years of HS, there was a huge difference in terms of college admissions between the kids who went to magnets vs. kids who went back to home HS. Many magnet HS kids ended up Ivy and top tier schools (or UMD with scholarship) whereas the kids went back to home HS had much less positive results. So, I don't believe PP's statement is correct. |
