RIP Mary Tyler Moore

I hope you are being sarcastic with this comment.
Her political leaning should not matter. She was a wonderful actress and provided many smiles to the faces of those who watched her.
And, she was a great advocate for those with juvenile diabetes and very active with JDRF.

Unlike type II diabetes, type I is an autoimmune disorder where the body attacks its own pancreas. It's not caused by diet, exercise, or any other lifestyle behavior. Like others with type I, she had significant issues controlling her blood sugar and the disease took a large toll on her eyesight over time.

Yes, I know. Exercise is still important for managing Type 1 diabetes b/c you're more at risk for heart disease and stroke:

She did not actually known if she had JD or gestational diabetes that turned permanent:

Oh my gosh, did I write this? This is me, exactly. What a great show and great memories with my mom.

This! I was too young to see MTM when it was first on but used to watch it with my sisters and mom when it reran on Nick at Nite. We watched sommych Nick and Nite over the summer and MTM was our favorite. I was trying to figure out why her death was hitting me so hard- I literally started crying listening to a segment on NPR yesterday- and I think the nostalgia is part of it. So many good memories.

You are mistaken. She said they didn't know if the diabetes caused the miscarriage or if the miscarriage caused the diabetes. Gestational diabetes is always type II. She knows she had type I which is autoimmune and is never temporary. Once the pancreas is gone, it's gone. Type II (including gestational diabetes) is caused by insulin resistance which can be more easily controlled through diet and exercise. All the diet and exercise in the world will not cause your pancreas to regenerate.

Type II is permanent. Diet and exercise may let you go without medication, but it's still permanent.

Right after this moment, they all shuffled over, still in a group hug, to grab a Kleenex. Hilarious!

Tomorrow Fresh Air will be re-broadcasting the interview with MTM from 1995:

One of the things I loved about Mary Tyler Moore was that she helped liberate what women wore on TV. She thought it was silly portraying housewives doing housework in dresses and heels. She advocated to wear what she would wear--pants. The censors would only allow her to character appear in on scene per episode wearing pants.

Sadly, I think women/girls have gone backward in their fashion choices, especially how they are portrayed on TV. The heels have only gotten higher and the skirts shorter. If clothing doesn't cover your ass when you sit, they're pajamas and not to be worn out of the house. Actresses playing cops or high schoolers wearing 6 inch heels--b/c foot binding is so sexy.

MTM didn't need to rely on high heels or revealing clothes--she had talent.

I never would have believed that MTM would be one of the first ones gone from that group.

I remember watching that show growing up. RIP MTM. You'll be missed.
