One of the things I loved about Mary Tyler Moore was that she helped liberate what women wore on TV.  She thought it was silly portraying housewives doing housework in dresses and heels.  She advocated to wear what she would wear--pants.  The censors would only [b]allow[/b] her to character appear in on scene per episode wearing pants.

Sadly, I think women/girls have gone backward in their fashion choices, especially how they are portrayed on TV.  The heels have only gotten higher and the skirts shorter.  If clothing doesn't cover your ass when you sit, they're pajamas and not to be worn out of the house.  Actresses playing cops or high schoolers wearing 6 inch heels--b/c foot binding is so sexy.

MTM didn't need to rely on high heels or revealing clothes--she had talent.[/quote]
