Two random questions: 1) Worst first name to have? 2) Worst month to be born in?

We have friends that chose to name their dd "Nathalie." There is not a French bone in their body. It's not a name of a relative or a character in a book they liked. Just liked the name "Natalie" and wanted to be different by throwing in the "h". Mom even joked, "She'll be doomed to a lifetime of correcting others. Tee hee!".

I have a friend with the name Nathalie. Her mom is actually European.

I used a lesser used spelling of a name everyone knows that actually has 2 other commonly used spellings. She would have had to spell it for people anyway asking "One L or two" I liked the spelling we picked better than the two more recognized spellings. It wasn't to be different. And it hasn't seemed to bother her yet (she's almost 11 - her birthday is in FEBRUARY. OH HORROR!)

Fine with me. My son is one of the older ones and I don't have to defend myself against red shirting like the parents of the august and September boys do.

I know a guy named Melvin, born in December. Poor guy.

For women, maybe Dorcas or Helga.

My Jewish husband's father was named Achilles - by his father who was going through a Greek phase. My FIL legally changed his name to something else. My sister-in-law is named Esther. That has always struck me as one of the homeliest names to give a girl. Meanwhile, my son was born in mid December. Between his birthday, Hannukah, and Christmas it's an exceptionally busy time of year.

I disagree. These are the best months for the school. You can make the strongest case to red shirt or not since it is so close to the cutoff.

Generally, you don't want your child to make the cut off and end up being the YOUNGEST. They may get lower grades, lower testing scores like the Nnat, CogAT.

No you can't. These are kids who are already going at 6 because they miss the Sept 30 cutoff, barely. Red shirt months are July/August because those kids barely MAKE the cutoff and will be very young.

My Aug 25 kid needed to be redshirted and was.
My Nov 7 could absolutely go at 5 in terms of maturity and capability but misses cutoff by 5 weeks so has to go at 6 and will be among oldest in her class.

I know a Greek-American family who named their oldest Spartacus. I thought he was kidding and even said "what did you really name him?"

I'm born in November and I don't think this is true at all ( for me) I would say early January because that is my DH's birthday. We are all getting over the noro virus ( got it on his birthday) and normally because of Christmas we are all partied out so his birthday is always low key. Mine is too but, I like it that way!

My nephew is February and I think it is great because one year they had a winter Olympics theme and it was so much fun!

Names: Adolph, Donald, Michael, Reince Kellyanne LOL
