The short version of Richard. Can't stand that name. Not Ricky, but the other one.

PP I can't even believe someone named their kid Osama.

He is a high school senior, and would have been 2 or 3 on 9/11.

On being a November baby: my birthday is routinely sandwiched between Halloween and Election Day, and sometimes is overshadowed as a result. Also, I was in DCPS when the cutoff was later (I think mid or end of November) and I was always SO young. Never a disadvantage for me academically, but it's a little awkward to be the only seventeen year old in a class of graduating HS seniors.

It's not-- it's a lovely time of year for a birthday. Fresh start, new year. Best wishes to you!

So he is a 15 year old senior? That was in 2001. He must be 17 or 18 which makes sense.

My birthday is 1/2 and I hate it. No longer celebrate it and try to make it a regular day.

Most everyone is too tired/broke from Christmas, hungover from NYE and around here the weather is usually cold and gloomy. So, happy birthday to me.

Worst was as a kid my mom would regift my Christmas gifts and give on my birthday. One Christmas my mom got me some toy in the "wrong" color, returned it and wrapped the replacement in birthday paper and now it's a birthday gift. I had a few other presents but all I remember was that toy, again.

That's so sad! If I had a kid born close to Christmas I would make a point to celebrate it very distinctly.

I would hate to be born in December and January. DH and I wouldn't TTC a baby born in those months. He's an early January baby and it is really hard on him.

Why is it really hard on him to have an early January bday?

no one wants to celebrate. He doesn't need anything because Christmas just passed. His family often forgets because of the timing. And it's cold, dreary and icy out. DH loves traveling, but we rarely plan anything for his birthday because it's a bad time of year. We're out of annual leave due to the holidays and it's too cold to go anywhere nice.

Maybe you both should make little changes so that he can love it. DC has an early January month and I can't imagine forgetting and/or not celebrating, somehow, even as an adult. Make the time, even if it's just the 2 of you. I suggest saving a few days and taking a trip somewhere.

We've been married a long time. He's also hated it for most of his life. I battle with depression and January is the worst month. It's so stressful after the holidays. We have celebrated DH's half birthday in July.
My husband and I also have early January birthdays. We also celebrate our half birthdays in July. It really is a terrible time for a birthday. My birthday is usually the first day back to work and school after the holidays. People are in crappy moods and on a diet.

I have a similar birthday. Every year when I got moped over not getting any birthday presents my mom chided me for being ungrateful after having such a nice Chrismas. She also never managed to send out invites before Christmas break, so I never got a party either. Meanwhile, my siblings all had big birthday celebrations. Early January birthdays are the worst!

My cousin's birthday is January 20th. Not a huge deal most years, though it is less than a month after Christmas/New Years, but this year she gets a new orange President for her birthday.
