Actually, I believe it was Van Jones who claimed HRC's loss to Trump was a result of "whitelash." That sounds very racist and vitriolic to me, but of course, Mr. Jones was literally on the verge of tears--you could see them in his eyes--as he almost broke down on national television on election night. So maybe he can be excused for his racist statements. I don't see why anyone would think Van Jones is a useful source of facts or opinion about anything at all, though. Just a cardboard cutout, a caricature of a "black activist," good for nothing other than to say stupid, provocative things to inflame people. A thoroughly useless human being. |
Thank you for your comment. I think you might reconsider your opinion of Van Jones if you read more of the article I posted. I agree with you that "whitelash" was not be best way to put it. But you have to concede that *some* Trump voters are in fact White Nationalist, this simply based on the fact that they were so happy about his victory. And you might also concede that, as AA, it's really hard, to the point of tears, to see someone with KKK support win the election. Note, I am not saying that Trump is racist himself. I am saying that KKK is happy about Trump, which is different. May I beg you to have some compassion for those feelings? I also don't want to believe that all Trump voters, including and especially those in the 3 States that gave him the victory, are racist. If they are racists, then Democrats have no chance. If they are simply hungry for attention and love, as I think they are, then soon enough they will realize that's not in Trump or the GOP that they will find it. |
Because calling someone a useless human being isn't being provocative just to inflame people. What a loser you are. |
| Someone wrote, "we gave the black guy a chance, now it's the racist's turn." There definitely was a backlash of some kind, and if you didn't see it coming, you were completely living in a bubble. |
I reject this notion that somehow Democrats - or anyone - "should" have seen a racist backlash coming. Why? On what basis was it so obvious that a black president would prompt a hate soaked campaign full of racism, bigotry, and xenophobia? One might hope that our society would see the advent of a black president as an accomplishment, not a scourge to be repelled and dismantled and counter-acted, which is clearly how Trump and his supporters see it. |

Yesterday was a rough day for the Democrats?
It would be more accurate to say that every single day since November 9th have been bad days for the Democrats. And the proof of this is the hysteria we see in the posts by liberals on this forum and in the media who just cannot get over the fact that someone who they thought was a buffoon ended up creaming Hillary! They are leaderless and adrift as to what they should do other than indulge in futile exercises like the recount effort that they tried to get done using Stein as a surrogate. The recount collapsed and so they have moved to hoping that enough electors will desert Trump ..... of course all we have is one Republican elector who seems to have joined the effort although they publicize it as being ten or more, except that all the other electors are Democrats who were not expected to vote for Trump in any event. |
Yeah, like I spend my days worrying about what Kanye West and Jim Brown think. Very strange priorities you have, OP. |
I think the veil on facts is coming off and Republicans are going to end up more damaged by this. They probably still believe they can mitigate it and still push their agenda, but I'm thinking Russian hacking is going to ensure Tillerson and all the rest are going to be confirmed. Rick Perry in charge of nukes is the really creative twist on creative destruction. |
I think liberals are connecting the dots between the buffoon who was elected and the very significant and damaging societal consequences of some of his stated intended policies, especially as they hear more about his priorities - from him - see his behavior (the tweeting, the lashing out at private companies because of perceived slights by their CEOs, and the romancing of Putin - just some examples). It's not hysteria, though Trumpettes like to dismiss it as that. It's hearing what the man is saying and watching what he is doing and realizing that it will be very, very bad for anyone but the 1% and that includes the average middle American Trump supporter. I suspect in a few years, unless you are in the 1% and not some self-loathing masochist, you will be very sorry Trump is president ... and the smugness will be all gone. |
Strongly disagree. He is reaching out to all people to help get us back on the track--the one that Obama drove us off. |
Didn't he had get out of the loony bin? Makes sense. |
Ok. And this makes you happy because why? Sociopath? Yay, other Americans are sad! |
Gates and Rice said nice things about Tillerson because they are on ExxonMobil's payroll. |
Take away NY or CA and she doesn't crush anything. I don't want two states speaking for the entire country. |
Secretary Gates and Secretary Rice (let's use their proper titles like you do with Secretary Clinton) are supporting the nomination because they have experience in that field and are worthy of hearing from, negative or positive, as are opinions from those with experience who oppose the nomination. Grow up. |
