| Magical powers. |
| Anna is the hero but Elsa is gorgeous! She kills it singing Let It Go, has a special power I wish I had, and that braid! Oh that braid! |
Well it's the fictional past of a Scandinavian kingdom right? so...maybe it's okay? Yes, I know, there's diversity in Scandinavia. Don't get riled up! MAGA: Make Arindelle Great Again |
yessss and when she makes the magic ice sparkly gown! |
that arendelle is modeled after a scandanaian-like place just adds to my husband's conspiracy theory that white folks keep making movies based on times/places where there s no or little diversity and seek to keep it "authentic". myself i favored anna. being a older sister as well i have to agree w/PP on how shitty elsa was. also anna and hans had the shared Arrested Development joke. that won me over! |
| My kid loved Anna and I am oddly proud of this. |
| There's a YouTube video of a bunch of Marines watching "Frozen" and when Elsa takes down her hair they all start hooting. |
+1 and my older DD who was probably a tween then, DID notice the lonely thing, and related to it as only a budding teen does--basically, Elsa is all about, "no one understands me!" Also, remember, in the movie, Anna looks up to Elsa--looks to Elsa as the star--so the kids take their cue from Anna. |
| OP, I say this with all sincerity: Let it go. |

What? No, Elsa wasn't $hitty. She loved Anna and loved entertaining her. It was awful for her to cut her out but she loved her so much that it killed her to hurt her.
Lookit those baby arms!

Elsa's not shitty! She's got a lot going on. As for why she's appealing to kids:
Let It Go Makes an ice castle and makes anything ice Better dress (nobody wants to dress up in the Nordic thing Anna wears) Do not underestimate the power of Let It Go. Also basically Anna's entire character revolves around boys and it's cool that Elsas doesn't. |
True that. Anna fell in love twice in the space of a few days. Totally boy crazy. |
I mean...sort of, but Elsa's entire character revolves around fear. Anna may crave human contact, but she's also the brave one. |
Don't ask me why, but I've looked for a person of color in Frozen and there is one at the coronation and at the dance. Blink and you will miss her, but she is there. Also, Rapunzel and Eugene are there as guests walking on the bridge to the courtyard when Anna dances by them. I can act out this movie, my daughter has watched it so much. |
