Perfect explanation why the Dems lost, coming from a lib with some self awareness

I have never and will never call myself a 'lib' and no other liberals I know call themselves a 'lib.' You may be the exception though I don't think you are a liberal as the only people I know who use the term 'lib' are conservatives.

I am a Dem and I agree it is amazing how the left will refuse to acknowledge its role in this debacle.

The Democrats have been walking away from working class white votes for years, b/c they didn't think they needed them anymore. Hillary is the consummate example.

Take Wisconsin, a traditionally blue, Rust Belt state. It has hit on hard economic times, and it also suffered a major police brutality/BLM conflict recently.

They were RIPE for Trump, and Hillary did. not. visit. once.

So arrogant, as if she thought she was entitled to their votes.

And now the reaction from the left (not me or anyone I know personally, I have to say) seems to be, "how can we punish them?"

It's horrible. I don't feel like this is the Democratic Party I came up with. What about "When they go low, we go high?" Well, now is the time to go high.

I know not everyone is Christian, but this is exactly what the admonition "Love thy neighbor" and "Turn the other cheek" refers to. Being a bigger, better person DESPITE what others are doing. It's how the Civil Rights movement overcame an extremely segregated country.

The Civil Rights movement overcame because we got out into the streets and demanded civil rights and justices as afforded whites. If you mean bigger and better because we tolerated attack dogs, beatings, hosing, and other horrific treatment DESPITE what others are doing, you will retract those words inevitably. Those heinous acts will NEVER be tolerated again and the cheek will not be turned.

Sorry to disappoint you.

Well, if you sink down to the level of the most uncivil, violent, and hateful aspects of your opponent, you have zero moral ground to stand on.

What do you think Michelle Obama meant by "When they go low, we go high?" That you ought to mock people? "Punish" red states?

I think you have no moral center or heart, just anger and hate, and frankly, that will not be enough to nourish you in a fight for good. And I also don't want you on my side.

Please, your side? If you think it's admiral to stand and be beaten and possibly killed to satisfy the vile, hateful, and contemptible nature of the 'opponent' then you are right. Not only would I not be on your side, I would absolutely nothing to do with you.

Moral center? Yours is non-existent if you condone the mistreatment of others. You think Michelle Obama would condone vicious physical attacks? That is NOT what go low, go high refers to.

The days of hosing, church bombs, dogs, beatings are not going to be tolerated or accepted. Sorry if that disappoints you.

What in God's name are you yammering about? Is someone beating you? This is a thread about Democrats showing some self-awareness after the election, clearly something you are severely lacking.

who is this British dude anyway?

I really don't think there's anything the dems could've done to beat Trump. http://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/news/amp50567/how-trump-won/ - these people are suffering, no one has ever questioned that, but they are uninformed and embraced- or, to be generous, overlooked- intense racism for the impossible promises of a con man.

You people are ridiculous. Up until a week ago, you were all laughing at Trump because you thought he had no chance. Now he was unbeatable?

You can keep calling everyone who disagrees with you a racist and sexist, but I hope you like losing elections.

Yep. Just endless virtue signaling.

He said liberals should have dialogue and discussion but that is hard to do. Disagree with Climate Change, think the models may be inaccurate and the data does not actually point to humans causing the weather to change? Liberal Response: "Nyah-nyah! Fingers in my ears, not going to hear you Climate Change DENIER! F** YOU planet hater!"

How do you have a dialogue with someone that stupid? You cannot, so we non-Liberals and even liberals who know the "science" for climate change just isn't all there voted Trump or did not vote at all.

Want to have a dialogue on gay marriage? Liberal response: "What! You think marriage is between man and woman only? F** YOU homophobe bigot, a BIG F** YOU" No dialogue possible. It is their way or the highway, so, seeing that we cannot even vote on the matter without them running to the supreme court to get their way over the will of the people, we have to elect Trump to reverse it.

And when we do get gay marriage repealed and placed into the category of civil union there will be more screaming and shutting of the ears blocking all dialogue.

You cannot have a dialogue with children who are always throwing a tantrum about getting their way, you have to go around them and over their heads and put them in a big time out.

America by electing Trump has put the whiny cry-baby liberals into Time Out. If this does not work, we'll have to get out the belt, bend them over, and give them a good horse-whipping like the good ole days.

Great post. I agree 100%

You condone child abuse. Why am I not surprised?

A smug Brit telling us what we've one wrong.

Interesting. Since he is so enlightened he should share his wisdom with his country men and women since they seem to be in quite a pickle as well.

Bernie could have fought her at the convention. Probably loses there, but at least he'd still have his integrity.

I personally think Bernie was a huckster from day one and scammed Americans out of $200M in donations.

No, it's actually a tiny elite club called "superdelegates." Interesting how she lost the midwestern blue wall states twice - secondly to Donald Trump, but first to Bernie Sanders.
