I just lost 45 minutes on this article- Holy Cow!

I wish we had more insight into both Easters before this event -- there must have been signs of how nuts they were...

Fixed.

Oh come on, go back to your little cave. No everyone in CA is as paranoid as you seem to be.

OP, thanks for sharing...fascinating story!

Sort of. They're both correct. The police did give her the benefit of the doubt, but probably because she was white (and rich)

Did you read the article? It made a point of explaining that she wasn't rich and the Easters (her enemies) were. Peters and her husband were apartment renters in a rich area where owning a home in a "good" school district was everything. Irvine is next door to Newport Beach (where the OC was set), if that gives you an idea.

Damn! That was a good read! It played out exactly like a Lifetime movie and I feel like it's only a matter of time before the acquire the rights. I'd watch the crap outta that made-for-TV movie!!!

PTA mom should be arressted for driving a PT CRuiser though, or at least have her car impounded so the rest of us dont have to look at one more of those hideous things.

haha, I have to admit, I was distracted for a second by that one detail. They sure are ugly cars.

I think the series did a good job focusing on the damages to the PTA mom and her daughter, but what about the Easter kids? Those poor kids- what happened to them? Where did they end up? Two unstable parents, the mother certainly with some level of personality disorder, the dad disbarred.....ugh. I mean the easters deserved all (and more) of the repercussions that they experienced, but those poor kids.

I assumed they made a conscious decision to leave them out of it for their own sake. Those poor kids have been through enough.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, too. A white middle class person gets the benefit of the doubt.

Probably rehomed with a relative. Anything has got to be better than the Easters' dysfunctional household. Can you believe how fixated, obsessed and overwrought the Easters are/were about appearances? And how smart they thought they were? And how they thought they would actually get away with their uncouth and illegal behavior? And how superior and above it all they thought they were? Those kids are lucky to be taken away from them, anything would be better than those delusional psychos.

If this were fiction, it would be completely unbelievable! This story is insane.

Have you read the story? Both parties are white. One (the criminal) is much richer than the other. It has nothing to do with race.
