I would position myself well for divorce and do it asap. Hopefully you can deprogram all those negative messages your kid is hearing once you get away.

You better pay attention. She said they have a preschooler.

My husband does something very similar, even at the airport. One of those times an employee sent an airport police officer to him. I was so embarrassed, upset and sad at the same time.

I am embarrassed to go out in public with him, because he can't get through a trip to the grocery store without using a derogatory ethnic, misogynistic or homophobic slur. He'll both say things in the car (when the target of his comment can't hear him), or he'll say it to their faces. He doesn't care who hears him.

I've asked him to stop repeatedly. I've told him that it embarrasses me. I've told him that it could hurt him professionally, if someone from work hears him. I have reminded him that our preschooler is in the car and can hear him. We're new to the area, and I have told him it may be the reason why we haven't made any friends yet. He continues, if he doesn't get worse.

Last night he told me out of the blue that this country started going downhill when it became illegal to beat your wife and kids. What do I even say in response to that?

I'm getting to the point where I don't think I can go on like this anymore. Even though he isn't saying things directly about me (he has only called me a b*tch when we're arguing), I still feel like he doesn't respect me. And it kills me to know that our child is being exposed to this.

How do I even begin to deal with this?

I pity your child. You let your husband call you a bitch. You are showing this innocent little one know this is ok behavior

He sounds mentally ill. He may always have had an issue and its getting worse and more pronounced. People can have prejudices and not be mentally ill, but when he can't control what he says in public and seems to have lost any sense of propriety, something isn't right.

But you need to think about getting out, because unless he takes proactive steps to change, you can't make this stop on your own

Sorry, OP.

Please tell us there are no guns in the house, OP.

But knowing his angry type, he probably does.

Document document document. Leave, and get protection for yourself.

First answer is the best one.

Your husband is going to pop off on the wrong one and may find that his mouth has written a check his ass can't cash.

You married a loser, cut your losses and get out while you still can.

Just wow. Wow. Please say that your H does not exist in the DC area. I do not want to imagine knowing someone like him.

This is very important to figure out. If it is sudden change in behaviour, could be medical issue is behind this (early onset Alzheimers. etc.) Not the best scenario either, just a thought...

Yeah if it's new, it sounds like a true mental health issue.
