Hotel.

You sound high maintenance. How would you make this decision without posting on the internet. I am going to bet you have texted your DH and your mother and numerous friends asking what to do in addition to posting here. Correct?

We had no A/C after the derecho a few years back and we went to a hotel within 36 hours of losing power. We let the kids sleep naked the first night - still a happy memory for them! - but it was just so miserable that we didn't want to tough it out any longer.

This. For one night, your mom's or a hotel. You just need to make the call whether saving the money on the hotel is worth the hassle factor of tomorrow's commute. That's a completely personal judgment call.

Hope the AC is a quick fix!

Yes. This! If there is a close hotel with a pool then bonus for you. Make it an adventure. Go out to eat. This is a problem to throw money at as long as you have the money to throw. Our a/c went out on the Friday evening of Memorial Day weekend. I played he pregnant lady card. They came out that night. You might also want to call the contractor working on the basement and see if they can check the unit.

Geez, she said she was pregnant and not thinking straight. Have some compassion.

If there is a pool with hotel, make it a fun overnight getaway and hang at the pool tonight and order room service or pizza. If no good hotel close by, head to moms house.

Things like this always turn into fun adventures.

+1

Even if your AC wasn't broken, this would be a fun adventure with DD!

Do you have a basement? If so, sleep there.

Can your mom pitch in and help with camp dropoff?

Hotel, upper floor window with a fan, or cooler basement with a fan. I would not leave ground floor level windows open, especially after you go to bed. Staying in a local hotel might be an adventure if you have enough $$$.

Thanks everyone.

The basement is being remodeled and we cnanot sleep there.

Maybe I am high maintenance, I don't know. I have a demanding job and I'm trying to work while dealing with my DD's drop off and pickup and just the general difficulties of a spouse out of town, I had my glucose test this morning and am feeling like shit because of that, I'm just not in a great mood right now. I have been sitting in a hot house waiting for our first service person who no showed. I finally have someone scheduled for 9 am tomorrow. And there is no way on god's green earth that I am going to run out and purchase an effing air conditioner. My mom cannot help with drop off, she works.

Just go to a hotel then. You will be miserable sitting in traffic trying to get to work and camp. Unless you'll sleep better at your mom's... in that case go to her house and just deal with traffic.
