This.  For one night, your mom's or a hotel.  You just need to make the call whether saving the money on the hotel is worth the hassle factor of tomorrow's commute.  That's a completely personal judgment call.

Yes. This!  If there is a close hotel with a pool then bonus for you. Make it an adventure.  Go out to eat.  This is a problem to throw money at as long as you have the money to throw. Our a/c went out on the Friday evening of Memorial Day weekend. I played he pregnant lady card. They came out that night. You might also want to call the contractor working on the basement and see if they can check the unit. [/quote]
