When Assault Rifles get into the hands of people that want to harm police, and other people

Or, to go to the range and have fun shooting pieces of paper, which is what millions of rifle owners - the vast, vast majority of them - do every week.

Can't they take up another hobby? Maybe they should take up reading or something and then they won't be so upset when we try to get rid of military assault weapons being on our streets. They can have target practice with handguns or shot guns. They don't need assault weapons at our safety's expense. What about our rights to live in a safe country? My rights are now being violated.

Find a new hobby. Laser tag. Paint ball. Go ride an ATV or something else like that.

I will never understand how anyone can defend those particular firearms.

I've learned that some people that don't support a ban on assault riffles do it out of fear that a ban on ARs would be just the first step. Slippery slope. Men that love hunting. They think that if it starts with a ban on ARs, eventually their precious hunting guns will also be banned. I think it's nonsense.

+1. I am from Europe and there are a lot of hunters in my country but people cannot buy assault weapons and high capacity magazines. it is just a no brainer that those weapons are not needed for hunting or defense.

Exactly wait until Islamic radicals in the us can open carry. It will be a war zone here. Second Isis helper arrested in Virgina this week. How many more Isis sympathizers are here waiting to use our laws against us and buy assault rifles and harm us?

Orlando already happened.

Go ahead and make a list of your possessions, and I'll tell you which ones you need and which ones you should give up because I don't approve of them.

Meth
Rabid raccoons
Land mine
Child porn
Slave

I could keep going....

Over 8 years Jarts (lawn darts) killed 6,000 people and so they were banned. 13,000 (approx,) people were killed in gun violence in 2015 alone. Tighter regulations is the least we should do. After all Jarts didn't kill people, people did.

Then why do you need to own the bloody semi? Why not just lock them up in the gun range?

I'd love to see their reaction too.

If there is anything good to come out of these past few weeks, it's that it is a reminder that Black people can also legally purchase guns, carry them in the open and there is the chance they might use those guns on white people .

Sadly, I believe this is the only way to get people to support gun control. Remind all the yahoos out there that the 2nd amendment also applies to black people.

I've also found their silence very telling. Dallas should put to rest once and for all the lie that armed people can stop the crazy people armed with assault weapons from killing people. All the police were armed and this still happened. They had to use a robot bomb to kill that guy. It has always been a ludicrous argument that if only someone else had a weapon the crazy shooter could be stopped. How many examples of this are we going to have to see before that penetrates?

Or you can be required to leave your assault weapon at the gun range. I think that's what they do in Switzerland.

They'd rather die, and kill you, than do that. You are calling for civil war.

Which just shows me that people who own these weapons are mentally unstable. And they shouldn't own firearms anyway.

I mean, really, what reasonable person says that asking for people to give up one particular weapon or at least store them at a range is asking for civil war? That is just so far beyond a sensible response.

You do kmow that you're talking about millions of people here, the vast majority of which are not unstable? Please also look up what an "assault rifle" is before stupidly parroting false information.

There are an estimated 10 million AR-15s in civilian hands in the US. The fact that 5 or so have been used in atrocities doesn't tell us much. But I am curious how you think you can get the existing 10 million off the street.

Still waiting to hear from the NRA regarding Dallas. They have been uncharacteristically quiet and Trump except for a brief response about law and order. Still waiting....tick, tick, tick.

They are not used for hunting animals; they are only used for killing large numbers of people in the shortest amount of time possible. They are not needed by anyone.

Ban, then buy-back and destroy. Want to keep one after they've been banned? Go to jail.
