More then what would be if they hadn't graduated in the first place that's for sure. Doesn't matter how "ready" you are for college if your not walking across the stage |
I think not, in this context. And there is always the option to MOVE. It is not like PG county is some sort of open air prison. If you don't like it leave! |
|
NP - yes, we did. |
But then she would have to move to Silver Spring or Gaithersburg and ewww who wants that |
Only 4? MoCo is around ~160. |
Good point. |
Montgomery county has more wealthy people, plus about 300,000 more residents. But no one can deny that Montgomery County schools ARE better in general. For now. |

So did anyone here actually take the parent survey the district had out recently regarding proposed changes to the grading policy? Or do folks like to complain but not do anything...or, you know, live here.
The survey was interesting. I selected "no" on a lot of the ideas that made getting a higher GPA easier, IMO. But if you aren't involved, well, you know where that gets you. |
At least we have one parent who is more than just talk. |
My point is are they educating them better? Or just finding a way to graduate them? |
Because the typical PG basher doesn't really know much about the county. They "just know" everything sucks, they've never been there and get their information about the county by reading headlines and hearing radio sound bites but never actually read the articles. Especially here on DCUM where the number of MoCk and NoVa posters is high. Once you''ve read DCUM for a while, you''ll recognize the type that regularly respond reflexively out of ignorance. |
Yes, everything sucks. I used to live there. |
I'm the first pp. I actually live in pg, and used to teach in a district like it, so I know the stat games districts often play to show "improvement". |
Let me guess, you're one of those parents who constantly insult your average child because they don't measure up to the standards of their bright sibling. "You know your sister always did more extracurriculars and had a higher GPA at this point. You're a failure and I'm not sure we should waste money sending a C student to college." MoCo is one of the best school systems in the state and PG is average. Yet you begrudge PG getting applauded for improving their lot. |
