What do you do with unmatched socks?

This is in competition as the most galactically stupid DCUM post.

I do. My daughter does. Neither of us ever lose socks. Sometimes one sock gets a hole and then its buddy is lonely but we don't LOSE socks.

That is amazing that you don't lose them. I honestly don't know where they go. They're not under the bed. My kids don't take them off in public, but a good 8 single socks per person are leftover after Months of laundry.

Where they go: I'll suggest some and other people can chime in. Then maybe this "stupid thread" will be redeemed?

1) Look in your folded sheets and towels. One could be stuck there. Especially in the pocket of a fitted sheet.
2) Look in your underwear drawer. I have found tiny kid socks in with my underwear.
3) Back with the dirty laundry. Sometime when I pull out a fluffy bundle of clean laundry from the dryer, a sock goes flying into a dirty pile. I don't find it until that load.

But socks end up eventually with a left and right, so....

I put them on top of the appropriate dresser. Sometimes I'll find a match.

For me, never.

And they sell them this way now too! In packs of 3. 3 mismatched socks...

I use them for dusting before throwing them out.

My mother had a drawer in her bathroom vanity where all lone socks went. When you came up with another loner, you went to the drawer and dug around until you found a mate. Sometimes you got lucky, sometimes the drawer was overflowing with unmatched socks.

I put them in a lingerie bag that lives in my laundry basket. Sometimes when I am done folding laundry but want to keep watching TV I sort through and find pairs, or make a throw away pile for ones that have been there forever.
