| I work for a small government contractor. Have always received a bonus (am a Prop Manager). This year close to $20K. I have four people reporting to me and each are also receiving bonuses (b/w 3-5K each). If you work for the right company, they will treat you well. |
| We get a performance bonus on March 1st based on personal and company performance. It can be anywhere from 0 to 100% of our salary. |
| My company pays out bonus to every single employee based on profitability. Basically a portion of profits gets doled out. It is very generous and ranges in the thousands to tens of thousands. 50 employees, each year we have done well. 7 years of bonuses. our CEO (a wounded warrior) is incredibly generous. We all work hard to make sure the company does well. |
| My husband gets a bonus the last week in March. Anywhere from $10.000 to $15,000 but the government gets it's cut first. |

Large (>6K employees) Non profit. Annual reviews are in the late fall, so bonus/raise happens at same time. Some people get a small bonus + raise. Neither is usually more than 5%, typically more like 2-3%. My boss gives his small team (6 people) all raises, not bonuses. I got 5% this year. while a little cash infusion would be nice, in the end I'd rather have it in salary, increasing my base pay every year.
We can also cash out PTOB. We get generally 24 days PTOB a year, and you can cash out up to 40 hours (as long as you use 80 hours during the year). So that's my small cash bonus. |
| DH and I (attorney and govt analyst) have never gotten bonuses, but I grew up on a farm and my dad always gave bonuses to his employees. |
| We get a bonus of $250-$1000 in November depending on your level at the company. It's pretty much guaranteed but you don't get it if you're on written warning. Then there's a year-end bonus that they pay out early the next year but that one is based on the financial health of the company and isn't guaranteed at all, but can be significant - $1000- probably $10k in a good year and depending on your level. Trust me though, those are pretty much the only perks we get. |

At my non-profit, some people get performance-based bonuses. I've typically gotten $3000-$4000. But not everyone gets one.
I used to be a fed, and back in the day I would get bonuses some years, of $500-$1000. We'd get them at the end of our performance year in the summer, though, not around Christmas. My husband's also a fed and also used to get bonuses, but that stopped sometime around sequestration. (I left the government in 2012, and I'm pretty sure there were no bonuses after I left.) |

I'm also a university employee and no one has received holiday bonuses in the 11 years I've been here. We sort of get the week between Christmas and New Year's off in that offices are generally closed and most everyone is gone. However, I'm at a director level, so if I have a project with early January due dates, I work from home on my projects. This has been the situation the last three years. This year, my project doesn't have early due dates, so I'll get the week off. As PP said, that's nice, but I'd rather have a bonus, especially since I will likely spend some time working on things I don't have time to when everyone is in the office. |
| My small private company does give bonuses. Everyone gets a little something (think $100 for under-performers and new hires) and top performers get between $2,500 and $5,000. I got $4k this year and last year. That said, I never ever count on the bonus as it is completely contingent on the amount of business we win/keep. |
| I work at a large, public company. Employees Director level and above are eligible for a bonus system that pays about 100% of your salary, paid out in the first quarter of the year following the calendar year for which the bonus is based. DH is an attorney at a large law firm and gets a bonus that's based on seniority and billable hours. It can range from $10,000 for a junior associate that just hits the lowest target to about $100,000 to a high billing senior associate. The amounts can vary year to year, but the Ballpark hasn't changed much in the past several years. |
