University employee. In five years we've never gotten a bonus. Typically they'll give us the week off between Xmas and New Year's instead. Which is nice, to be sure, but I'd trade those days for some cold, hard cash.
I'm also a university employee and no one has received holiday bonuses in the 11 years I've been here. We sort of get the week between Christmas and New Year's off in that offices are generally closed and most everyone is gone. However, I'm at a director level, so if I have a project with early January due dates, I work from home on my projects. This has been the situation the last three years. This year, my project doesn't have early due dates, so I'll get the week off. As PP said, that's nice, but I'd rather have a bonus, especially since I will likely spend some time working on things I don't have time to when everyone is in the office.
