| We don't call them holiday bonuses, but our company gives a percentage of your salary for a year-end bonus. Our fiscal year ends on Nov. 30, so the bonuses are given around the holidays. This year the bonus was 5%. |

I worked for large corporate companies, and they never did holiday bonuses. I work for a small, privately owned company now and they give us a small bonus. It's under $500 an employee, but it's still nice that they think of us.

| I never got a bonus when I worked. Neither has my husband who is in IT - they did give him a gift certificate at thanksgiving for a $15 turkey. |
| DH's company (small but public) and my old employer (large public) did give bonuses as a percentage of salary (as long as you performed, you got 6-8%). My current company is a small nonprofit and we give them if we can afford that year (this year $1000 each to 4 full time employees, none to contractors). |

We get an annual performance bonus that is up to 10 percent. No one gets the full 10 percent because, in our CEO's words "nobody's perfect". The bonus is given in February for the previous calendar year.
We used to get small Christmas bonuses as well ($200 or $300), as incentive for showing up at the Christmas party. |
| I work for a federal contractor. I have worked at the same agency for 23 years and for 4 different employers. Only 1 of those 4 employers ever gave bonuses. The bonuses were tied to the contract bonus that the contract got for the semiannual review of the contract. They shaved off a small portion of the contract bonus and then divided the contract staff into categories A/B/C. Those that were either critical to the review (e.g. major accomplishments during that period), or were exceptionally critical employees or just one that did an exceptional job, got the highest bonus A, those who were good and earned good marks on their contract tasks got B and the run-of-the-mill employees got C. C was usually around $250, B was usually around $500 and A ranged from $700 to about $1500 at the program manager's discretion (most were under $1000). I worked for that employer for 7 years and got B and bottom A category bonuses (one year got a C for an off year). My first employer (not the one who gave bonuses) did give holiday bonuses to all employees that were just gift certificates or gift cards to local stores. These were between $20-$50. |

| I don't get a holiday bonus, but because of when I was hired and the timing of my annual review, my performance bonus comes right around the holidays. It's small (up to 1.5%) but still nice to have. |
| When I worked for a small design firm, yes. When I worked for a well known international shipping company, yes. And a holiday party in both cases. My jobs in education and the public sector generally, hell no. |

My holiday bonus this year was $500 after taxes. This is the first year I have received a bonus in awhile. In previous years I worked as a contractor and/or worked federal contracts.
I did get a $500 performance bonus/achievement award the previous year though. |
