This reminds me of the hilarious interview where Jimmy Fallon tells the story of him years ago trying to impress Nicole Kidman so he buys Brie cheese and saltine crackers. Obviously it didn't work but so funny.

These are awesome. Read the comments, some people have made great changes. They can be made ahead and travel well; they're also great for anyone with higher end taste than some of the prepackaged/prefab suggestions.

I also love bacon wrapped dates. I put Boursin in mine.

It looks like it takes a while, but the prep time is minimal. It will keep warm enough for an hour drive if you wrap it in tinfoil , then wrap a dishtowel or something around the tinfoil

Bacon wrapped chestnuts. Now that you can buy pre-shelled chestnuts, so easy. Wrap in bacon and roll in brown sugar, then bake.

I buy the Whole Food Baked Brie(many different flavors)--such a huge hit!!

I love gougeres. They're easy to make ahead - you can bake them, cool completely and freeze, then you just have to reheat them before serving.

Prosciutto wrapped around melon slices, brie kisses (google recipe, super easy and can be frozen in advance),

His isn't as easy but homemade spiced nuts (Mix almonds and cashews and walnuts, lay in tray and bake a little, mix honey and paprika and rosemary and pour in top, bake a little more. Break up and serve) amazing and addictive. You can look up the actual recipe.
I love lox roll ups with a little dill on top but that's not everyone's thing.
Veggies and dip always works. For a change, get the biggest carrots you can find and cut them into circles as well as some cucumbers. Lays out prettier than sticks.

Don't bring anything to a thanksgiving dinner that requires an oven unless you cleared it with the cook/host

I'm surprised that the cheese stuffed bacon wrapped figs are such a popular hit/crowd pleaser. They sound delicious (to me) but I would think that lots of guests would be wary of eating figs. I don't think my kids would even try them.

2)Cheese and crackers (I would do a cheddar, a blue, and a goat, and serve with table water crackers and triscuits).
3) Cream cheese shrimp dip (layer one block of cream cheese, one package of baby shrimp, one jar of cocktail sauce, serve with triscuits)

Easy-peasy

Yes. Exactly this.

And now I want all the snacks.

Sorry but I disagree with both of these pp. at thanksgiving why fill your stomach on generic appetizers before a big meal? I don't think anyone really wants to eat the things listed above. Try something different and add a hot app!

Your kids wouldn't eat fruit?

The cocktail sauce/cream cheese app is actually delicious. I've had it for decades with Ritz crackers, and clams instead of baby shrimp. That picture did not do it justice, the presentation can be much better.

Clams? Oh my goodness! I cannot imagine anything more disgusting.

I love these Paula Deen wraps. You can alter the ingredients to your taste like we don't use the black olives. They are easy to make the night before and then just slice them into spirals at your destination.

Something non dairy might be good as well like a veggie tray with hummus or hummus and bread sticks. You also could roast veggies and serve them at room temperature or as part of a Mediterranean platter for nibbling.

I am making either a hot spinach and artichoke dip or a crab dip with a nice baguette.

And then there will be little snacks like spiced nuts and olives. And crudite with homemade bleu cheese dressing.
