Your kids wouldn't eat fruit?

Hmm. A cheese stuffed, bacon wrapped fig is not just a piece of fruit is it? Please don't get me wrong, I'm not dissing this as an appetizer! I am not averse to trying it myself I just wouldn't expect it to be a crowd pleaser like cheese/crackers or a raw veggie tray would be.

I keep checking back to this thread for great new ideas but that cream cheese/shrimp thing is terrifying to me..

2)Cheese and crackers (I would do a cheddar, a blue, and a goat, and serve with table water crackers and triscuits).
3) Cream cheese shrimp dip (layer one block of cream cheese, one package of baby shrimp, one jar of cocktail sauce, serve with triscuits)

Easy-peasy

Cream cheese shrimp dip sounds disgusting. Do people actually eat this?

OMG, I dated a guy in college whose mom served this at every family get-together. I had to turn my back to it to keep from gagging.

Barf.

Sorry, I love shrimp and cocktail sauce. I like cream cheese. But this dish is grim. Not something I would eat.

There is no good reason to eat pre-cooked baby shrimp in anything. Especially with bottled cocktail sauce and cream cheese.

I have a mini 2-cup crock pot. I make a crab dip, heat and put in the crock pot with a little finely shredded cheddar cheese on top . When I arrive, I plug the crock pot in and put a dish/plate of crackers or crostini next to it. My recipe makes about 2-2.5 times what will fit in the crock pot. When I need to refill, I just warm up the crab dip in the microwave, scoop into the crock pot and add a little more cheese on top. I can make the crab dip the night before while the kids are sleeping and just heat in the microwave before leaving.

Can you share your crab dip recipe please?

OP, something that we have found EXTREMELY popular with our mostly-healthy, semi-foodie, lots of allergies family is a big bowl of steamed adamame. Easy, fast, good cold, not too heavy. Everyone from the preK set to the baby boomers likes them. And it doesnt presume that the host has oven space to spare - either cook at home and bring chilled or just steam in microwave.
