Why wasn't there more outrage about Michael Vick?

I'm a Philadelphian and there was plenty outrage when Vick joined the Eagles. He did his time, more time than people do for committing crimes against human beings. I don't like the guy but I wasn't going to turn my back on my football team for giving him a second chance after serving his given time.

I say this as the proud human mom to an adorable Pit rescue. Move on.

This. Move on. In our society criminals pay for their crimes with jail time. Vick did so (remarkably, when you think about it).

I'm ok with putting my heart and morals before my football team.

Adrian Peterson should have done time but apparently it is ok to abuse your kid but not a dog.

I don't think that is a fair comparison. Vick tortured animals. I didn't follow the Peterson case closely but wasn't it spanking with a switch, which wasn't illegal or something? I just remember a lot of people chiming into that debate and saying that's how they were raised too etc.

Where are your heart and morals when known (even if they aren't convicted) rapist and abusers take the field? Right there with the rest of the fans I'm sure.

Well much depends on in what state the crime is committed and prosecuted. In VA https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/local/wp/2015/10/02/the-execution-of-alfredo-prieto-witnessing-a-serial-killers-final-moments/

Some states he'd get life.

You gotta learn to get over shit. The dogs that could be rehabbed are happy and the ones that couldn't have been euthanized. Move the fuck on.

I'm from the Hampton Roads area where Vick was from, and trust me, there was plenty of outrage.

Yes, we should move on. He's paid his debt to society, as they say. Now it's time for us to move on.

Not all of the rescued dogs from Vick's disgusting kennel became fine family pets.

Did anyone reading these boards ever see a dog attack on a person or animal? One comment has the term the "new normal" for dogs for basic expectations:
https://mountainx.com/opinion/letter-writer-pit-bulls-should-be-allowed-to-go-extinct/

Vick and his pitbull breed involvement have created another problem. New normal is leash aggression, perplexing attacks /deaths when instinct kicks in...

Pit people might not lie this but the link below details how nice shelter dogs are used as bait dogs in behavior assessment for the intakes:

So they use a nice dog and it gets traumatized.
Oh my god. The pitbull hater is back. Can't you find a different hobby?

I honestly have not followed that story - At All. But of course rape is never, ever acceptable and it is always a crime. Although an accusation is not the same thing as a conviction. People forget that.
Okay, Ben was never convicted of anything but Vick was and Vick was punished. Ben, who apparently has behaved badly and, if some are right, broken the law but never been caught - he's okay?

Jeez, I don't want to leave any of you people alone with my daughter. You'd take better care of my dog than my daughter!

The accusers agreed to a monetary settlement instead of pressing charges a'la Kobe Bryant.

Oh, you can pay money to get out of criminal charges? That is good to know!

You should have known that already.

And what's at issue here is whether Ben R makes you disgusted with the team. It strikes me that people should be even more disgusted with him because he was able to buy his way out.
