Why wasn't there more outrage about Michael Vick?

Vick has paid his dues. What he did made me sick, but he's done his time in prison. It's over.

It's not about race. Big Ben has won superbowls. Vick has not. Ray Lewis killed someone and we all love him.

And also, during the original furor over Vick, there was this whole "dog fighting is a black thing -- you wouldn't understand, so try to be more culturally sensitive" thing. Yes, that really happened.

There seems to be significantly more outrage over Vick's animal cruelty than there is for any number of players who have committed acts of violence against women.

The woman, a 20-year-old college student who has not been identified publicly, said she and her friends first saw the Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback on the night of March 4 at Velvet Elvis, a supper club in Milledgeville, which is 83 miles south of Atlanta, Georgia.
After posing with him for pictures, "we left him alone" and went to The Brick, a pizza and pasta place in the same town, she said.
Roethlisberger and his entourage were there, too, she said, adding, "We continued to have casual conversation. He even made crude, sexual remarks."
Afterward, both groups made their way to Capital City, she said. The nightclub describes itself as having "great music, awesome drinks, hot bartenders."
"Ben asked us to go to his 'VIP' area (back of Capital). We all went with him. He said there were shots for us, numerous shots were on the bar, and he told us to take them. His bodyguard came and took my arm and said come with me, he escorted me into a side door/hallway, and sat me on a stool. He left and Ben came back with his penis out of his pants. I told him it wasn't OK, no, we don't need to do this and I proceeded to get up and try to leave. I went to the first door I saw, which happened to be a bathroom. He followed me into the bathroom and shut the door behind him. I still said no, this is not OK, and he then had sex with me. He said it was OK. He then left without saying anything.
"I went out of the hallway/door to the side where I saw my friends. We left Capital and went to the first police car we saw."

"Big Ben" the rapist was 28 at the time in a college bar. The bodyguard was an off duty policy officer. Your beloved steeler? Roenthlisberger crimes(you know he has done that before) are unpunished and he is unrepentant. Just stop with Vick is so bad I can't watch the team.

Bet she would love to meet Big Ben in a dark bathroom, but she looks too old for him.

Vick's prime was spent in prison, he was given a second chance but now it's clear his career is over. Let's move on to other abuse(r)s. There's plenty of material to go around.

Ben R was never convicted of anything was he? Maybe it was determined that there was no criminal wrong doing on his part?

I honestly have not followed that story - At All. But of course rape is never, ever acceptable and it is always a crime. Although an accusation is not the same thing as a conviction. People forget that.

The accusers agreed to a monetary settlement instead of pressing charges a'la Kobe Bryant.

I think it is bc battered women have the option to leave. To tired dogs don't have that same freedom. And raped women are allegations not convictions.

To tired should be tortured.

Oh, you can pay money to get out of criminal charges? That is good to know!

Black crime has to be downplayed and explained away or people might think racist white proles are right.

Oh please.

I'm a Philadelphian and there was plenty outrage when Vick joined the Eagles. He did his time, more time than people do for committing crimes against human beings. I don't like the guy but I wasn't going to turn my back on my football team for giving him a second chance after serving his given time.

I say this as the proud human mom to an adorable Pit rescue. Move on.
