1747--what are you talking about? If someone says something offensive about your race they would be wronga and stupid and hopefully not president. I can't stand when people make excuses for bad behaviour by bringing up other bad behavior. I am also sure if a president went on tv and made a remark about the clan you wouldn't be saying it wasn't a big deal. |
pp, my point is that we are all making dumb statements all day long. Most of us get NO feedback, so we don't have a good idea of how frequently we offend. Just trying to put things into a perspective. |
why did it hurt your wittle fweelings? |
It was pretty terrible but I'm still in awe of Obama because he apologized almost immediately, something we have yet to see Bush do for anything, much less his abuse of the English language. |

Agree with this. Move on. |
So no one there has a laptop or dvd that will play them? Give me a break... |
In all fairness, I am proud of the movie making industry in this country. It is probably our biggest cultural export after music. It is something to admire in our past, since artists had such freedom (mostly) to do what they wanted. It is American, as much as apple pie and baseball. |
Are you this combative and condescending in your day to day life? Or do you just save it up to mete out on anonymous forums? |
I am tired of the Bush bashing. He was not a great speaker but he is a wonderful man and I don't recall him saying things that were just plain mean ex. Obama making the joke about Nancy Reagan who is an 88 year old widow and now the joke about developmentally challenged children and you tend to see his gaffes when he is speaking "off the cuff" and not managed by his handlers. Call it what you want but he is for sure arrogant and a jerk. |
The special olympics joke was in poor taste but what I have a problem with is our President trying to something to everyone. First he is on ESPN picking his NCAA tournament bracket, dying the white house fountains green for St. Patrick's day, then he is on Leno and next up is 60 minutes and last week he is at the Wizards game. I would rather that he focus on more important matters: the 2 wars, stimulus package, bank bailout, healthcare reform and completing his administration.
He is our President and I want my President to act like one. I don't care who he picks in the NCAA tournament or that he can yuck it up with a comedian on TV. We elected him to work for us 24/7. I know he is human and needs a break every now and then from the grind but when you are elected Presdient of the US you have given up that luxury. There is a reason they call it the toughest job in the world |
and he was at the Wizards game chewing gum like a cow. I was horrified! |
I agree. They are trying to be too popular. He and his wife need to cool it. There is way too much room for silly mistakes by being out there so much. He is not the only one. Whenever Clarence Thomas opens his mouth in a personal interview, he sounds so silly. I recall the biggest mistake with Sarah Ferguson (I mentioned this before) was trying to be everyone's darling. That stuff does not work. Had Tom Cruise kept of that Oprah show, no one would have know just HOW weird he was, and that cost him. People who keep a low profile tend to be more intriguing. |
As a human being Bush might have been a wonderful man (but I doubt it). But as a president he did NOT care what the Constitution said and he did NOT listen to people who disagreed with him. Once he made up his mind, he insisted on "staying the course" as per his father, and would not change in the face of new information. Those were his major failures. Oh, and the complete lack of interest in science as the basis for making decisions. That was another big failure. |
Ever heard Obama speak without his teleprompter? He's a disaster. He uses it more than any other President in the past. Obama is a fraud. And I agree with the other poster, why the hell is he on Leno when we have unprecedented numbers of Americans losing their homes, jobs and life savings? |
Yeah, what a horror! and how many days during his presidency was Bush on vacation? Didn't it come to something like over 365? |
