Agree with PP -- Bowser may win me over yet, I hate tossing and turning wondering about a 5 am call and it was definitely coming, weather forecasting is more fine tuned than in the past. They should cancel at this point, people are sliding all over in my W2 hood and still coming down.

Actually I think it is a bad call that they have not cancelled school yet today since the snow is worse than last time they cancelled.

I agree. And metro buses are running at an hour delay.

My independent school has cancelled - now just watching for my charter child, which will.follow dcps lead. They need to cancel asap

Pls cancel!

In fact I think it is a very bad call that they have not cancelled yet especially since they tweeted a half hour ago reminding everyone about the two hour delay when it was very obvious that the snow was worse than last time.

NP here. Still think it was a bad call? All you Bowser bashers should give the lady a break. She's damned if she does and damned if she doesn't; and she's been in office for less than 2 months. Don't we all want a better District of Columbia?

Forgot to add that Metro Bus tweeted 13 times that DCPS was closed today! I guess they thought it was logical that DCPS was closed today today too!

And the thing that irritates me is that our bus, if it runs today, will be empty of all the kids from the ghetto. So keeping the schools open in a misguided attempt to serve the poor is simply wrong since at least in our neighborhood they mostly do not go to school on days like today. There are plenty of other social safety nets which I am supportive of and DCPS does not need to keep schools open on a day like today.

Yes, it was a bad call. Our streets are sligtly slushy and I cleared my walk with a broom around 8:15. It was clear by 11:00 last evening that the storm was tracking slightly more southerly than predicted and dry air to the north would keep snow totals on the low end of predictions for the District. The delay was probably inevitable after OPM made its call but DCPS should have waited given its track record of erring on the side of cancellation.

Really? Is that really how you refer to low income kids?

Yes -- terrible call. The snow was no obstacle whatsoever and the streets and sidewalks are passable. It's not even terribly cold. Better than a cancelled day I guess. My kids benefit from school and their projects and work are interupted by needless cancellations. They're not alone, although they eat on time whether in school or out. Just don't see the benefit of the 2 hours, where if anything there was more snow by 10am than at 8am (like 2" of light snow vs. 1")
