At what age does being skinny start to look bad?

Mediterranean countries like, Italy, Spain ,Greece etc are in Europe and they are white, they just happen to have olive skin. I would have to disagree women in Europe who are Nordic have great skin ,ever been to Germany? I think it's the American Caucasian counter parts who skin that ages quicker. I wonder if it's life style.

Skinny and fat people both get wrinkles. Is this news to people? It's not one or the other. It's called AGING!!!! Being skinny does not make you more wrinkled and being fat does not make you less wrinkled. Genetics plays a large role in how you age....jowls, sagging, drooping, etc. Why does it matter OP? You'll get wrinkles when you get them. No amount of weight shifting is going to make much of a difference.

Actually yo-yo dieting and going up and down in weight--does cause skin sagging/wrinkles.

I think there is this idea if a woman is thin she is naturally going to age more. I have to agree with pp it's all genetics you can be fat, athletic, chubby, average sized, skinny and have a lot of wrinkles. Yo-yo dieting also will contribute to sagging skin. I guess it's best to try to maintain a healthy weight from the start.

First of all, fat injections and great skincare, far outside the bounds of what the average person can afford. Spending many hours a day working on your body/face/skin will do that.

Second of all, many supermodels carry fat in their face, I have noticed. Almost every single Victoria's secret model has a baby face where if they gained ten pounds they would look almost fat, in their face. (Miranda Kerr, Chrissy Teigen, Behati Prinsloo)

So even though the rest of their body is really skinny, they have that extra padding in their face that keeps them from aging as much. So they basically have the fact of a normal sized person, or slightly underweight person, and the body of a tiny model.

LOL. You do realize that bulimia has this effect, right?

Actually being skinnier, too skinny, does result in faster wrinkles. Fat prevents and hides wrinkles, which is why women pay to have fat transferred from their butts and injected into their face. It's fairly simple.

It depends a lot on the person's overall style. If you are a thin older woman and you show up to work with your ratty hair, black eyeliner, and dated 80s/90s clothes, you're going to look like a meth addict. If you take good care of yourself, tasteful makeup, age appropriate clothing, and avoid tanning (causes wrinkles), you'll look better and younger than your age.

I am 46 and recently lost 15 lbs. I was never fat but I was at the upper end of healthy BMI for my height. I am very muscular and always have been, but now you can see lots of definition in my arms. I am really seeing the age in my face now. Having cheekbones isn't as attractive as I once thought it would be. I've always had really oily skin which has kept the wrinkles at bay but now I'm seeing that my face isn't as taut as it once was. I also see in pictures that my eyes are really showing my age when I smile. I have big eyes but now it is all bags when I smile in pictures.

It depends on whether or not the person has muscle. There are also a lot of other factors that go into this, just being "skinny" doesn't do it.

1) does this person take care of their skin?

2) does this person drink too much?

3) what kind of diet? high in processed foods = old haggard look

4) posture matters ladies! sit up straight and when you walk, chin up...shoulders back...!


I'm slim and take care of my body. Ain't no way I'm going to gain weight just so I can "look younger". Who am I fooling? please. I'm in my late 40s, I know it and I'm fine with it.
