My thin comes from working out, not starving myself. I eat healthy and indulge when I want because I know my exercise levels allow it. Women need to start picking up heavy weights and get off the treadmill and peloton and recognize that toned muscles are so much sexier than skinny legs.

Yeah, muscles look good, but some women (and also men) just don't have that sort of build or genetic disposition to get toned. I know some people that are just terribly lanky no matter what. And I think some people have to be really thin if they have a lopsided fat distribution... or else they look kind of odd.

Not really. This is one of DCUM’s favorite topics.

I am 5'6 and weigh 115 lbs at 49 years old. Not told that I look haggard but am Black. If I weighed 10-15 lbs less would surely seem scrawny. You have to be truly emaciated - not just slim or skinny - to look bad at any age.

If I could rewind the tape I'd be skinny until 35 then add about 3 to 5 lbs every 5 years- this way everything gets a little plumped up over time.

Vera Wang still looks quite thin and beautiful (for her age) at 75.
