I love Valentine's Day! I make a ton of ridiculously intricate valentines to send with the kids. I love the pink and red hearts and the stupid teddy bears. I don't really buy into the whole romantic love part. It's a holiday for children to swap cards and candies at school.

If I'm feeling kind of low on the other 364 days of the year, I march my ass right to the Red Door and get something waxed or massaged. They pamper a million times better than a guy can, and I can complain without tears and trauma if it isn't just right. Bless those women, with their comfy robes and softly lit waiting area.

I'm single, too. After a recent divorce. I thought I'd be alone tonight, but within the last 48 hours I've arranged and am hosting a dinner party for 14. Some singles, but mostly couples. Turns out that lots of people don't make big plans for Valentines Day.

Now I am really excited. So cheer up and do something that you'd like. Forget convention.

Sure, we may be single and alone, but that doesn't mean we have to lonely.

Being single does not have to equate lonely. Read some of the posts on here from people in loveless marriages who have been cheated on, who want to cheat on their spouses, who feel trapped in their marriages due to the kids and finances as well as all the unhappy people who just stay out of the sheer fear of being alone. The majority are simply terrified of being single....They think they will absolutely die w/out their "other half." So they settle for less than they deserve, yet come on here and complain about how miserable their lives are.

Most of the time, I am relieved to be single after reading a lot of these postings.

I don't have to stress about a husband going on a business trip, why isn't he calling/texting me often, is he having drinks w/someone? or why is my husband taking me for granted, why am I doing all the housework and childcare, etc.??

It's nice to not have to deal with all that drama.

And tomorrow I get to go to the stores and buy all that chocolate for 1/2 off!!!!
