Leave the fish in his mailbox.

That would be mean to the innocent fish.

But the fish will die on Thursday, right before he picks him up. Of course, I will say, he was still alive on Sunday when you were supposed to pick it up! But neighbor will think it's been dead the entire time!!

My DH gets home around 7PM - I may ask him to go to neighbor's house.

I love this thread.

Me, too!

OP, are we talking about a fancy fish or a run-of-the-mill goldfish? The cost factor should also influence your decision..

I had fish when I was a kid, and I don't think you need to clean the tank very often. Certainly not after three days.

OTOH, all our fish died, so there's that. But probably they died of old age.

OP here. It's a fancy-looking goldfish, I think. It did not have a name when dropped off. My kids have since named it "Goldie". They are getting attached (hahaha!). I do not have time to take care of a fish; we already have a hamster.

The amount of brain cells I have devoted to this fish probably exceeds those of the fish.

For the record, bizarre things like this is why I will NEVER do anything that starts with the phrase "Sure! How hard can it be to...."

Because the answer to that questions is always "WAY more difficult than you think!"

I think that you have acquired a new family member. Named Goldie.

Op even if the fish freeze they'll be fine (I'm assuming these aren't tropical fish bit ordinary goldfish.) A friend had a goldfish pond growing up and they froze over every winter and thawed out in the spring. Seriously, the fish will be fine on the doorstep.

The fish will not be fine if OP leaves its bowl out overnight on a doorstep in below-freezing temperatures.

do none of you have phones or any methods of communication. Sounds like something that could be over in minutes with a call or a text!

Stop interjecting with logic! No phone, no texts, no e-mails. Just feet and a fish.

1) yes it will 2) who said anything about leaving it overnight or for an indefinite period of time?

You don't have any contact info?
Yes, send DH over, without the fish, to find out if they are home and can pick the fish up.
Why are you lugging the fish and tank back? That is their responsibility
How much are you being laid?

Oh dear god I didn't mean to insinuate your sex life was negatively impacting the fish. I'm sure it's blissfully unaware.

I was asking how much you are being paid.

So, is it *REALLY* a fish, or is it like a tadpole with a fish's name (is it named Donna?)
