How many dental crowns do you have? How many root canals have you had? How old are you?

41.
One root canal w/crown, and one crown that didn't need a root canal. Both times for teeth that broke. One in a fall and one from eating popcorn! Apparently, I have crappy weak teeth.

55. No root canals or crowns. Only one cavity ever. Fluoridated water as a kid and I really always liked milk. And good luck I think.

32. 1 Root Canal. 2 Crowns.
I guess I have bad teeth compared to everyone else.
I didn't go to the dentist for almost 10 years. I was young, broke and ignorant. My teeth are in great shape now.
Learn from me-get dental insurance, go to the dentist 2x per year and FLOSS at least one time per day.

4 root canals, 4 crowns, plenty of fillings

I had no enamel on my baby teeth and all of my molars were crowned by age 5. My permanent teeth have enamel, but it is weak. I have one ds with my teeth (4 crowns by age 4) and one with my dh's perfect teeth.

I hit 51 and got 5 cavities, a root canal and a crown after only having a few cavities as a child. I thought I had great teeth, too. Recession and bone loss have accelerated.

To the pp above -- how can you have more root canals than crowns? I thought if you had a root canal, you had to have a crown as the last step in the procedure?

I had to have 2 root canals on one tooth but, in the end, that tooth could not be saved. So no crown although at one point I did have a temp crown on it.

Two root canals, two crowns, a bunch of fillings.

When I was a kid, I had a rash of cavities all at once right as I hit puberty. My dentist at the time said it was obvious that I took good care of my teeth, but that hormones and heredity play a big role. My cavities are symmetrical--I have cavities in the same teeth on either side of my mouth. My dentist now says that's also an indication that it's genetics playing a big role.

I also have bruxism, which did a number on my enamel until a dentist figured out what was going on.

37: no crowns, no root canals, several fillings. I've had fluorinated water every I've lived and take good care of my teeth, though I know there is a genetic component. I go to the dentist every six months like clockwork.

1 root canal w/crown. It was done when I was 26, though.

Lots of small fillings, 1 root canal with crown. and 1 crown

I am a tooth grinder, though, and that weakens my teeth.

To those who have multiple fillings or are being urged to get fillings, there are threads on this forum where multiple posters have reported dentists who unnecessarily recommend getting fillings.

I have two fillings and over twenty years ago I was advised by a dentist in Alexandria that I needed seven fillings. I thought that was a dubious recommendation because my prior examination six months earlier in another state indicated my teeth were fine.

In the twenty plus years since then, I have had just one additional filling making for a total of two fillings.

So be careful when a dentist tells you that you need fillings. It may or may not be true ......... and my experience has been borne out by others on this forum.
