People said the same thing about Barack Obama in the Dem primaries and whoever that guy was who trumped Eric Cantor. And didn't the post endorse Fenty?

All politics is local. This forum and thread are about local education issues. Anyone who is moderately paying attention knows there's only one person who understands the problems and has actually done something about solutions.

Do your homework on the candidates, then vote based on your priorities and principles. We all need to tell our children why and how we vote. Set an example.

Last I checked, only 400 or 10% of union members voted for anything. Of those people, how many are DC residents and how many of those would pick an unequivocal supporter of Henderson?

Based on this thread alone, there are probably a whole lot more parents than WTU members voting.

Henderson and Catania's relationship is public, even the bumps. When they challenge each other, it's been open and not nearly the gladiator type sparring with Rhree. They're also both DC-loving Hoyas of the same epoch. So if they couldn't get along, things would be really awkward on the Hilltop.

That said. Henderson's five year strategic plan started after Rhee left. She's been handed her boss's boundary plan and told to implement it now. She agreed to do it. But now she's faced with a potential boss who says "screw what you said you were going to do, start over and give everyone Deal middle school even though it hasn't been studied or funded. A bunch of people will be coming to your table to do the restart. I don't know how much they know about education. You'll figure it out." Or she could have a who would say "I got this education stuff for a little while. You can hold off on boundary changes and take another year to implement your strategy while charters are basically put on hold. Anybody who should be at the table is already there."

Henderson is a lot of things, but stupid is not one of them.

Which would you pick?

WTU runs copier machines non-stop and turns out seniors on school buses all over the city. WTU members are the nice ladies you see running many of our polls. They might not vote in DC but they are all over the place before and on election day. LIUNA, AFSCME, and are going to the wall for Bowser in Wards 5, 7 and 8.

Turn out your friends to vote and DC will change forever.

Last time I checked the WTU 1.) hadn't endorsed Bowser and 2.) Didn't get along with Henderson at all. (Just not as badly as things were with their relationship with Rhee.) So don't make it sound like they're working to elect Bowser (and by "Bowser" I mean "keep Henderson".)

CATANIA!!!!! No offense, but my EoTP school is going down hill. That's not what I call progress. And quite frankly, you have a problem with candor and transparency that permeates DCPS central - especially on safety issues; that's a non-starter.

Catania here too. Don't agree with him on everything but at least he has ideas and conviction, Can't say the same for Bowser.

Bowser agreed to tell the education philanthropists she would keep Bowser to shut them up and it worked.

Bowser told education funders she would keep Kaya and they settled down.

These same people think Catania might not give them a seat or listen.

David should reach out out to them in the way Bowser reached out to the education funders.

Catania and Henderson have known each other far longer than Bowser has known either one of them.

Anonymous wrote:Agree. I listened to him at a community meeting last year where he introduced his DC Promise Plan. It's clear he has thought about the challenges facing kids in all wards, and wants to continue helping them even after they leave DCPS. My kids won't benefit from his program, since we are able to pay for college. But here's someone who had a plan for continuing education before a mayoral run, and which will happen whether or not he becomes mayor. He has a vision for education in DC that Bowser doesn't.

But Bowser will invite everyone to sit around the table.

Yes, every shit slinger with an agenda will be invited to sit around the table and Muriel Bowser (as in More Bullshit) will be happy to patronize them with that gummy fake smile!

God, I can't wait until Catania loses on Tuesday and you self-entitled, overly-entitled mommies in this echo-chamber of a discussion board can move on to the next topic.

Nope, then we move on to skewer and eviscerate Bowser for not moving the city forward on anything and working on getting her thrown out of office in the next cycle.

I still don't understand why Bowser even has the support she has when she has been a lazy and uninspired council member, offers no ideas for DC except for the city except for the vaguest platitudes and quite frankly comes across as dumb as a door nail.

Bowser is a Democrat as are most of the people on this board. Few care that she is the standard bearer for one of the most corrupt local Democratic Parties in the entire country.

WTU hasn't endorsed a candidate for mayor.
