Are you scared?

Anyone can have PLANS for something. What you should ask is does ISIS have access to a live strain of the plague (they are typically kept in very secure vaults), do they have the research facilities and money to do such research and do they have to means to execute such a plan. I was talking about this article with my DH (who is a vacine researcher) and said that even if they got their hands on it, they would likely wipe themselves out before they created something even remotely weaponized - becuase they could not exactly make themselves immune to the plauge either.

In other words, they have access to the Internet. So I guess we would just nuke the world and start all over.

Wow! You nonchalant naïveté is oh so impressive... But access and willingness to use that knowledge are two different things. Surely, someone as cool and impressive as you can see the difference.

AA here. OP I am scared...but of completely different things that you are scared of. And the stuff and people that scare me are not in Syria or Iraq. They are right here in this country. So call me nonchalant or whatever, but I agree with Chris Rock when he said "I am not afraid of Al Queda, I am afraid of Al Cracka."

Yes I am scared but it has nothing to do with Obama. Just seems a lot of things are going on in our world that are really bad right now.

Scared in part because this admin seems indifferent to domestic and foreign problems. Paging the Clintons....

If you are an Obama supporter, if you are apolitical (hard to reach these people since I'm posting on the politics board, I get it), if you are a strict Liberitarian against involvement abroad, are you scared for our future as a free country? Do you worry about groups like ISIS, Al Quaeda, Hamas, having influence over your life and liberties in the US? It is already happening in Europe.

Honestly I'm not looking for a debate. I'm just having a hard time seeing how things can get better for us under this administration.

Interesting....a lot of people were asking the same questions after 9/11.

You asked a question...and then said you did not want a debate. So I will just answer your question and not give you the rationale for my answer (although I can't see how my answer has any value without the rationale).

No, I am not scared.

I said I didn't want debate about who caused what and why. I'm asking those of different political opinions whether or not they are fearful of the future and why. Saying no because you don't think ISIS is capable of what they say is a legitimate answer. Blaming Bush for ISIS is for a different thread.

Interesting. Usually when someone wants to get out of a mess, they try to understand how they got into it.

Some people believe that exiting Iraq created the ISIS problem. Others believe that invading Iraq was itself the problem. So yes it really does matter why this happened. Because one side would say we need to deepen our involvement (i.e. destroy ISIS). The other would say we need to stop meddling in Middle East affairs.

It won't. Best do some prepping. Seriously

Bottom line:

We can't let terrorist groups grow to the point they already have where they are essentially running countries by creating chaos, kidnapping boys to grow their armies, burning down villages, etc. We've lost control, and now they are successfully recruiting Americans to go over there and fight with them. If we don't want to address these issues abroad, then the only solution is to prevent folks from those countries from enetering the US (which will never happen). Something will happen. Quite frankly, I'm surprised nothing has happened yet. I can't tell you how many middle eastern men I've seen in DC taking photos of bizarre things. Like stepping out into H Street at 15th and taking pics of the street. Ditto for the underpass at DuPont circle. And I called the no emergency line to give the tags of a car with a few middle eastern young men where two of the passengers were videotaping outside both windows as they drove up 16th. Flame away about how I'm being a stereotypical racist and they were probably just tourists, but I followed up with someone I know in DC homeland security, and one of the guys I had reported for photographing odd things (like grates) was arrested. Apparently he had compiled tons of photos of targets and geographic info. He was detained a few years ago though.

A few years back, during the sarin scare, a friend bought a truckload of gas masks for $2 a piece and sold them for $50 online to the tin foil hat crowd. I remember him bragging about how they lined up to get fleeced. It's usually the buy gold, guns and underground bunkers people who spend all day watching Fox News. Today it is its own industry. My take is that it's the losers who think that after the "mad max" apocalypse the roles will be reversed and the'll get their chance to rule the world. Lol.

Germany occupied most of Europe. The Soviets could have ended civilization as we know it in a nuclear firestorm. Al Qaeda might be able to blow up a building.

blowing up a building is not huge to you? People like you and me did not go home to tuck their kids in bed . Life ad we knew it in dc and NY ground to a halt. Our culture changed ..i am not worried about the statistics of it happening to me. I don't want this for anyone in my country.

Whatever. Like I said, I know for sure that one of the guys I called in was detained (and not released). And two middle eastern guys ducked down in the backseat of a car with camcorders pointed out each window while cruising up 16th st is probably nothing to worry about...just being racist I guess. Well, the lady who took my call and the officer from homeland security were glad I reported it.

The US is a very strong country. We like to bicker and fight amongst ourselves. But when truly threatened our directly attacked by a foreign entity we can and do quickly ban together and vehemently defend ourselves. I'm not one bit worried that would not happen.

lmfao

You're an idiot.
