| It varies, this year about 10k, but unusual year since we are going to Disney. We also went to Germany for two weeks to visit family, then Puerto Rico to visit friends, so we mostly paid for airfare and expenses. HHI is 200k. |
| HHI just over $500k. Spend @ $30k. It's always been a priority for us to travel a lot and show our kids the world--we both grew up in homes where we never traveled. |
You need to take up camping. Did you know there are campgrounds that don't cost anything? You can bring all your own food and grill out. Buy an $80 tent from Wal mart and get out and take a vacation. I love camping. Here's a campsite I have stayed at many times while hiking in the area. http://freecampsites.net/#!1008&query=sitedetails |

2-4k per yr for single mom with one kid, hhi of 110k. All of our relatives live across the country, so it's $1200 just for airfare to see the grandparents. Things will get easier when the child is old enough to tolerate the cheaper early morning flights that require us to leave the house at 4:30 am.
I agree with previous posters that the proliferation of vacation condos for rent definitely makes things easier. Friends in Australia and Europe regard this as the default lodging for families. |

HI 185k. family of 3. We spend from 5k to 8k on vacations each year.
-Beach in the summer -Florida for Spring Break -Christmas in Europe We do not pay for accommodations since we have family in FL and Europe. We only spend in renting a beach house in either Rehoboth or Bethany and we drive there. |

About 10k a year for a family of 4 plus au pair who comes on some trips.
5 days in NY before Christmas about 1500 Two weeks at the beach about 5000 One week early in the summer about 2000 Spring break another 1500 or 2000 We save up to do a big trip every couple of years - Europe. Disney. We live in a smallish house. One car. Kids share a bedroom. Would rather spend our money on trips. HHI is 175,000. |
| We spend about 20-25k. HHI $500-700k. |
How did you do that for $10k? Even if you only have one kid just the airfare to Germany would take half of that. |
| We spend at least $10-$12k on 2-3 ski trips each year. Summer vacation is at our summer house so hard to figure cost on that. No incremental cost but high sunk cost. And we try to go on one other trip each year, Europe this year. Will probably be in the $8k range. |
PP here, we bought only one of the tickets, the other three we got with miles. |

Some years about $10K, other years much less. Last year we went to Florida for NY's week, stayed with friends for three nights and then high-end hotels near Naples for 5 nights. Add airfare and car rental and that was $3200. Later that year we flew to visit family out west coast, paid $1700 for tix and rented a house for $3000, plus a minivan rental.
I have enough miles to go to the Caribbean now - but only one of us. This year we stayed with local friends for a waterfront spring break, went camping for the first time with the kids over several weekends ($15 - 30/night, fun! beautiful! stars! smores! deer, waterfalls, beach...) We may spend about $1100 this summer for a midweek getaway - save on hotel costs by doing stuff at home that needs to get done anyway on the vacation weekends. We always rent a car for more space and no having to clean it afterwards
For me camping is fun, it is something we like to do, but not a substitute for a "regular" vacation. I day dream about driving out to go to dinner, but once I am there I tend to prefer cooking by the campfire and end up only eating out on the way home. |

About $8,000 this year due to an upcoming trip to Egypt to visit family. We do that every 2-3 years.
Usually spend less than $2,000 a year going to the beach and several overnight trips. Like Williamsburg, Luray, Gettysburg, etc. Next year going to Mystic, CT for about $1,000 total. As my kid gets older and we branch out to vacations further west, and maybe Canada and the Carribean, I expect to pay more. But for now there is so much to learn, see, and do within about a 5 hour radius, we are focusing on that. HHI about $200,000. |
Not that poster but we spend similarly. And travel several times a year. Not big luxurious vacations, but fun ones nonetheless. |

Our HHI is only about $130, but we travel frequently. It's a priority. Typically two big weeklong family vacations a year, one to Florida and one to New England. We also do smaller trips -- just got back from a fun campout on the shores of Lake Huron. And husband is traveling for 5 nights to see a friend, and I'm going on a cruise with a bunch of women (it's an annual event. ) |
| ^^ The above adds up to about $8,000 a year. |
