Did you even READ the post? That's exactly what the OP wanted -- for her kid to be in camp!! |
+1. I think you're just mad at yourself that you're a doormat. |
As far as "they insisted" nope, that's on you/your DH, if you didn't want their help you could decline. No one 'insists' on providing care for my child if I don't want it, kwim. That being said, boring days at gparents, big deal.
IMO the big problem is not your child being bored, but your ILs lying to you about going to playgrounds/etc, who does that? The lying is a big red flag IMO, they think it's ok to lie to you and tell your child to lie(?) |
This. To me it seems you're more worried about the boredom. What I'd be livid about is the broken trust and lies. I would never trust them again. |
that would be by far the best thing. ILs probably did not understand that camps are full, full, full and have been since March. |
OP last minute camps in MD are: the ones at the public schools-- basic but the neighborhoods kids are often there
The parks (indoor at the centers) mine went to one where all they did was bounce balls all day at Potomac rec center and for some reason, they loved it. |
OP here: I wouldn't mind a public school camp. Do they accept kids who don't go to that school?
I also called DS' school. They have a spot for him starting mid-July. |
In MOCO they accept anybody but they fill up fast and there is a waiting list. Sorry. |
My 5yo just spent 2 weeks at Silver Stars gymnastics in Silver Spring and loved it - they have half day and full day options, and I registered him both times at the absolute possible minute. Not sure if that would work for you from Germantown, but I throw it out there. My older child is at a karate place where they take regular lessons - also no trouble to sign up at the last minute. |
Don't know where u live, but the camp at Calvin park (twinbrook) looks like it has tons of openings. |
Thanks, PP. Unfortunately, gymnastics is not my DS' favorite sport. Too girly for him ![]() |
OP, these "morons" raised your husband, and he turned out ok. I'd chill. Or at least stop posting bad thoughts. Not good. |
Maybe the camp was cancelled. Happened to us.
I spent months at grandparent and wasn't bored (they didn't even have a tv).Darn the kids nowadays... |
There has to be more to this story. Did you not wonder how they coukd sign your child up for camp without your signature? Medical forms? Supply list? You didn't even ask the name of the camp??? Your child is only 6, I can't imagine just being fine with sending him wherever. It's not like you haven't had time to research the camp. When I was on bedrest all I did all day was surf the Internet. |
That's a good point. OP probably knew more than she is letting on. |
