What an absolute load of crap though I would be leery of taking unscreened breast milk for my child.

OP, I saw someone mention Hopkins. My daughter was treated by Dr. Au Yeung from 4 months to almost 3 years old. She is amazing and super responsive. Have you been able to get in there? If so please email her or your doctor ASAP, they will help you.

OP, please ignore this idiot. While screening is great if you have the option, it sounds as though you're in a sticky situation. Ask a lot of questions, and be cautious but do what you need to do to make sure your baby gets the calories they need while you're waiting for a long term solution. The risk of disease transmission is incredibly low.

Yes, there are cases of failure to thrive due to social/parental reasons. There are also cases for 100% medical reasons. Given that the OP is clearly working with medical specialists, who she references in her thread, I think we should trust their judgement that the best solution for this situation is the one they're proposing which is medical.

-- The mother of the former g-tuber above, who is no longer FtT because of the medical solutions we found.

I'm the one that mentioned Hopkins and both my daughters see/saw dr au yeung. I've recommended her to you before - she is the single most caring doctor I have ever seen. She looooves babies and will hug and hold mine during the appt - she calls after hours for even minor things and even had a child w reflux issues so she gets how hard GI issues are. If you call up there and beg the nurses will get you in

I guess taking unscreened milk is not ideal but when I suggested I would donate I did so knowing that my milk is technically screened. We did IVF so I had the entire STD panel (HIV, all the Hep's, and Syphilis). I also had TdaP during my pregnancy so in theory if that antibody can survive the freeze it may have some protection for that. I will continue to use it for my DD so I am not interested in sending to a donation bank but if someone is in need then I would be glad to help out.

Oh Jesus. Seriously? Go.thef*.away.

I wish I knew who you were so I could avoid you at all possible costs.

You clearly know nothing about FTT. So please take your uneducated opinions back to your cave.

This thread makes me so happy. Thanks moms, for making my day. (Not OP).

OP, I would trust Human Milk for Human Babies - Virginia on FB. Lots of great, selfless donors there; I encourage you to post. Please don't offer $$$---that's where you might get shady folks offering milk but you don't know whether it's ok or even human milk. Go straight donation - you can usually meet the mom and her baby. You might even make a caring friend and develop an ongoing milk donation relationship.

"Breastmilk donated or sold online is often tainted, study says."

I would probably chose a g-tube or try harder with formula before I would feed my baby a stranger's milk. Anyway, ask your doctor.

Pp here - this poor mom has been struggling with her baby for months and is desperate. I've emailed her to donate and am the same as a pp - screened for everything via fertility treatments. If anyone knows if a bank where we could quickly donate and have it ear marked just for the op please post - then it could be formally screened and she'd get it. I'll keep my freezer stash for my dd otherwise, but I'd really like to help this mom.

I'm the g-tube mom up thread. While a g-tube is a wonderful thing when it's needed, it also comes with risks. I'm sure the OP has thought long and hard about the decision to seek out donor milk and that she's weighed the risk. I also think it's important to note that the risks discussed in that article are the same risks that mothers face when pumping and freezing at home, something that mothers do every day.

As far as trying harder, I don't see anything in the OP's post that would make me think she hasn't tried as hard as she possibly can.
