While screening is great if you have the option, it sounds as though you're in a sticky situation. Ask a lot of questions, and be cautious but do what you need to do to make sure your baby gets the calories they need while you're waiting for a long term solution. The risk of disease transmission is incredibly low. Yes, there are cases of failure to thrive due to social/parental reasons. There are also cases for 100% medical reasons. Given that the OP is clearly working with medical specialists, who she references in her thread, I think we should trust their judgement that the best solution for this situation is the one they're proposing which is medical. -- The mother of the former g-tuber above, who is no longer FtT because of the [b]medical[/b] solutions we found.
