Seriously, UMD at the top? I would put it at least under Penn State and GWU. And what kind of DC native is going to rank American over GW??? |
The OP asked posters to rank, and it seems like one or two people in the peanut gallery find it necessary to thumb up or down choices. OP asked (unless it's OP doing the critiquing of choices) our choices. OUR choices. Get it? |
I've been surprised at how MANY posters are ranking GW so low, even taking into account the recent ranking "scandal." And ranking American so high! |
I disagree, but PSU is a very good engineering school. |
I think GW should be toward the top (if not at the top). Definitely above AU. |
UMD has improved a lot lately and that is reflected in admissions difficulty. Only AU and GWU on this list are more selective. |
PENN State

What's with the weird capitalization of PENN State? It doesn't seem like it could be done accidentally so what's the point? |
Sorry George Mason doesn't fit in with the rest of these schools, more with like VCU or ODU type selection. Ranks: 1. Penn State or GW (depending on major) 2. American/Delaware |
Uh Oh....GMU booster is back with a vengeance. The real ranking (Average SATs of Incoming): 1. U.-Md. or GW or PSU 2. AU 3. Delaware |
Maryland is considerably more selective than AU... |
GW

UMD's honors program is higly selective and ranks as one of the best in the country. I would have no problem with DC going into that program; otherwise, I'd have to go with GW. |
Not really. The SAT scores of accepted students are nearly identical at both schools and AU accepted 44% of applicants last year as compared to Maryland's 47%. Thus American is slightly more selective. |
