Anyone met with AART yet to review GBRS?

Really-very few kids get a 14-no basis for complaint!! If kid is in the pool, you should be in, no question.

The commentaries were strong and detailed though it definitely focused more on the verbal and critical thinking rather than the quantitative. The teacher herself brought up that our son was clearly cut out for AAP and offered to refer if he didn't make the cut off - a statement that apparently is very strong (and she said she hardly ever offered this). I guess was hoping the GBRS would be a 15 or 16 to help more. This is my eldest child- just hopefully asking AAP who have BTDT.

GBRS of 14 is excellent. Remember that the average GBRS of a Center-eligible student is 12.

She said once the results are out, if an appeal is required, then the whole package copy is given.

This is what I thought would happen if I asked my kid's teacher or the part time AART.

Not sure how parents are getting GBRS score from teacher/AART.

I just emailed the AART and asked to see the file. She told me her hours at our school and we set a time after school one day. She let me look through the GBRS and the samples they included. I asked fr a copy and she said she would leave it at the front office when it was ready. I got an email the next day that said I could pick it up from the office whenever I was available.

So, my DC got 16 GBRS, 149 NNAT and 98 on CogAt. Can we pretty much assume DC will get in or can other factors (work samples maybe) play into a possible rejection.

14 is an excellent GBRS.

A 14 with thoughtful comments and good work samples is just about as good as 16.
If the parent comments are as well-written, this is great.

PP here- thank you and other PPs.. I read a bit more and know this is good but it's helpful to read from other AAP parents. Our school is pretty successful (lots of bright kids) at completing packets / helping support AAP so I can only imagine the commentaries would also be good for others. Now it's a waiting game .. thank you again..

Very few kids achieve a 16 on the GBRS-during my son's year 2 years ago, we were told only 1 child had gotten a 16 (out of about 50 kids ultimately in AAP). You would think from reading this board that it is a common occurrence, and it shouldn't be!

What do you think are chances? In pool with NNAT only

Cogat 122 composite
NNAT 160
GBRS 14

I'd say it's a high probably depending on the strength of the overall file. How was the commentary on the GBRS? My DC got was in-pool last year with a high NNAT, but a below-pool CogAT. GBRS was 13, but the written commentary seemed very strong to me. We submitted the parent questionnaire and letters of recommendation, but no work samples or WISC. DC was accepted first round.

Thanks. Do you mind sharing the Cogat and NNAT scores?
