For her to get the nomination, people have to feel like Obama was a huge success. So much of her career is tied to the outcome of his administration. If the economy is doing great, yeah maybe. If not, she's an academic, an Obama appointee and a single term senator.

Disagree. If his legacy is 'unsuccessful' (which it's not), people will say "should have picked her, and now's our chance."

That's probably not going to end like you hope it will.

I remember this joke from 2008. They can't come up with anything new to say about her?

Focus please. The pp was commenting about Warren.

That is what is fueling the rise of the Tea Party.

Keep repeating it and repeating it, in hopes that it will become true.

Speaking of Warren, I just looked at her Wikipedia article. She had quite an up-from-the-bottom life. And although Obama had her set up the Consumer Protection Agency, he did not nominate her to head it. That's why she's now in the Senate.

I know it's conventional wisdom that she's too liberal to get elected president. Personally, I don't think that's obvious, but I suspect the belief is widespread enough that she'll find it hard to be taken seriously as a candidate.

To be more complete, Obama had intended to nominate her but the Republicans said they would oppose her. Then when he picked another candidate, the Republicans declared they would oppose any nominee unless the CFPB was restructured, so he made a recess appointment.

Correct. And that was part of the learning experience that has finaly taught him that negotiating with the GOP gets you zip. At least I hope it's finally taught him.

That joke is WAY older than that. I remember that from the 1990s.

Agreed. Talking about fat thighs and small breasts, could anything be more misogynistic when we're talking about a possible presidential candidate? It would be like me suggesting that Boehner has a small penis. If I did such a thing people would be outraged. OTOH, making fun of a middle aged woman is always hilarious to the small minded.

Lots of jokes are made about men and their anatomy. What about the numerous jokes about Anthony Weiner even if he invited them? How about the jokes about Chris Christie? When it comes to women how about the knocks against Michelle Bachmann and her appearance or those against Janet Reno when she was AG.

Where I will agree with you is that women get more focus than men when it comes to appearance. But as a Hillary supporter, it does not bother me a bit. I was amused and family members and friends (both male and female) - all strong supporters of HRC - who heard the joke were amused as well and not one person thought it was offensive. The reason is simple: when one is in the public eye you become the focus of jokes. It goes with the territory.

You have to be a man. HAVE TO BE. Jokes about anatomy do not "come with the territory" when you are a politician, or at least they shouldn't.

Lighten up PP! Jokes about the physical characteristics and appearance of politicians and other celebrities are nothing new. It is not limited to women by any means.

It's not even a clever joke, it's totally lame.

How about Clinton/Warren?

Not sure there's such a thing as too liberal to get elected President now that the GOP had dug its own grave. As if they didn't invite enough hate with the misogyny, gay hating, racism, class warfare "47%" of the last election - now they get to have this shutdown on their resume. I think they are going to be paying for a long time.

In that race, she doesn't deliver a key state, nor does she fill in holes in HRC's background.

Do a little more research. This bootstrap story is her perception. She had a sports car when she was in high school. It was used. She was very concerned about optics.
