1 beautiful child

wowza!!!! did you freeze the other embryos? what's going to happen to them if you don't use all?

We used two of our frozen embies to conceive child #2. We still have 20 embryos left. When we went into this, given my age we thought we'd be lucky if we got one viable embryo. We made a commitment to give each embryo a chance at life. We never thought we'd be faced with trying to give a chance to 28 embryos!

We've kept them in storage for a number of years. Now another family member is facing infertility so they will use some (or all, if need be) of the remaining embryos to try to conceive. If there are any remaining after that, we will probably donate them to someone else facing infertility.

17 retrieved, 12 fertilized
10 made it to day 3
7 made it 5 day blasts
Transferred one fresh - BFN; transferred one frozen - BFN; transferred two frozen - BFP (twins, but lost one in the first tri, carried the second to term)
So, we still have three frozen for another try

Was age 43.4. Had 7 eggs retrieved. Transferred 4 simultaneously. My sweet baby girl is a healthy, happy, smart third grader ( 9 in December 2013) today! My miracle of miracles. It happens.

IVF #1: 36 years old. 19 Eggs. 12 Fertilized. 3 made it to day 3. Clinic was a disaster.

IVF #2: 38 years old. 7 Eggs. Can't remember other numbers but 2 perfect blasts and no baby.

IVF #3: 38 years old. 10 Eggs, 6 Fertilized and all 6 made it to day 3, 2 blasts transferred, 1 baby.

IVF #4: In the middle of shots now, 40 yrs old, doing minimal stimulation. I'm on day 5 or 6, and I have 5 follicles measuring over 10 mm right now, but no guarantee on number of eggs and what will happen. I should know next week I guess, not sure how long I'm stimming for.

This is amazing. And for the bolded part - you are an amazing person.

I have to ask though - does it weigh on your mind that your "kid" will be out there being raised by someone else? I think a family member wouldn't affect me as much because there would still be contact. But donation to a stranger of an embryo that is mine and my husbands would be too tough for me.

Updating. ER today. So IVF #4, half the meds of IVF #3 and 2 years older, got 8 eggs. Minimal stim seems to be the way to go for me.
