Sidwell student driving Lexus SUV - Crazy texting and driving . . .

Give your stupid class of 2014 "America" slogan a rest, sonny. Everything may seem hilarious to you but texting and driving leads to a great many fatalities and serious injuries.

I hope you didn't go to Sidwell, otherwise I'd be seriously concerned.

Apparently Sidwell's class of 2014 has a senior theme derived from "pledge of allegiance" with the numerals "14" replacing a couple of the letters in plege of allegiance -- maybe "Pledge of A14egiance"? From this, they have been saying things like "welcome to America" (at times, unfortunately, in situations in which it has been offensive). Doesn't seem funny to me but then again I think the way all of the private school seniors decorate their cars with their school name and puns on their graduating year is a little odd (and maybe a little dangerous in terms of advertising that an affluent teen is driving the car).

The slogan and related silliness good reminder that even the smartest kids can act dumb/like jerks.

Public school kids in this area also decorate their cars. Nothing wrong with that; it's a matter of aesthetics and doesn't pose any harm to anyone. Reckless driving is the problem.

Thank you OP for posting. Calling the school directly is also very helpful.

I'm sure your kid is perfect. You are what's wrong with DC. Handle this incident more privately. Yes the driver was in the wrong. But you are in the wrong to do this so publicly. You are pathetic.

The youth driver is reckless. Keep posting AND calling the school. Parents unite. I hope schools will add texting/talking on cell while driving to offenses which administrators are authorized to suspend students.

As a parent and teacher at another private school I say definitely report it to the administration. Our kids represent the school even when they are not on campus. I'm guessing Sidwell feels the same way.

Fine to report it to the school.. But there is due process in the USA. And if you are going to try to out someone with so much info on an anonymous chat board ... You are a coward. Why don't you tell everyone your name so they can face their accuser.

Ave. He was seemingly surfing the net on his Iphone while also yucking it up with a girl in the front seat. Talk about multitasking. Window has something about "Stay Classy" and Class of 2014. Turned into Sidwell. If this is your DC, please speak to him before it's too late.

Could have been a student at another school. Just because they turned into Sidwell doesn't make them a Sidwell student. You are so excited to find something negative aren't you.

This is "outing"? Where is the name? Shoot, where is the license plate number?

And due process actually refers to the court system -- which is why it's called "due process of law", not "due process of anonymous Internet accusation".

I'm a Sidwell parent who thinks you should post your complaint on this forum and call the school. Calling attention to bad driving can save lives. Of course bad driving isn't limited to any school or any age.

Haha, enjoyed that one.

I'm a parent of a recent Sidwell graduate. My DC was seen driving dangerously three years ago and someone called the school to report it. The school 1) figured out who it was, 2) called DC into the Dean's office, 3) put him on restricted privileges for a week, 4) notified us so we could follow up at home (we did), and 5) did not put it into his record or notify colleges. So yes, you should call the school and no, it will not ruin the teen's life.

Agree. Why do these kids need to be driving to school? Why not wait for their brains to become a bit more developed?

Thanks for posting this, OP. If it was my kid I would not care about details being shared on the web. I'd be pusses at my kid and scared to think that my kid could be driving dangerously. I'd also be fine with the school getting involved.
