Sidwell student driving Lexus SUV - Crazy texting and driving . . .

Anonymous
Plowing into a bunch of pedestrians on the sidewalk doesn't look good on a Kim's college ap either.

Thanks for sharing, OP. I think someone knows exactly who this kid is.

I'm another Sidwell parent who agrees with this advice. Call the upper school principal (202-537-8162) and give your description; she will quickly figure out who the student is and respond appropriately.

Posting here is nothing more than gossip and will accomplish little besides stirring up more posts, which won't accomplish anything either.

I live in AU Park and in the past had Sidwell school on speed dial based on the crazy driving from parents and kids that I had to avoid on a daily basis.

THe school was very responsive. Also - if you are at a stop light- pull out your phone and snap a picture.

He's a senior. No one was hurt. No accident occurred. The schools tend to overreact to these things. It's college application season everyone. Would it be fair to have such a blemish for conduct that occurred outside of school? PP said that she would take care of it. Reckless driver will get the message. Enough said.

Yes, it would be fair and reasonable. Better this "blemish" than an accident that causes "death" and "grave injury."

What on Earth are you talking about? Sidwell isn't going to tell the colleges this kid was texting while driving. Kids at privates get caught falling down drunk on school property and they don't tell the colleges.

The school will either say something directly to the kid or call his parents or both.

Does giving a high school kid a Lexus SUV to drive jibe with Quaker values?

Teens not focusing while driving is dangerous not matter whether at Sidwell or an other school. Check the news from two weeks ago but I believe an elderly man on riding his bike in Northern Virginia was run over and killed by a teen that was texting while driving. The texting part is not official but it will come out soon. http://www.wtop.com/164/3444473/Teen-driver-hits-kills-bicyclist-near-school

I disagree. Texting and driving needs to be stigmatized, it is so dangerous. Also, if this family takes away the teen's phone, it may actually save lives.

I hope you didn't go to Sidwell, otherwise I'd be seriously concerned.

Says the same parent who got fine for throwing a party for their senior and serving alcohol to all his friends.

When are people going to wake up?!
