Besides the new Vampire Weekend, I've also had "Feds Watching" and "Started from the Bottom" on constant rotation.

Can I come to your house

Rap = crap

All my kids itunes downloads go on my phone, too so I know what they are listening to and it sure isn't rap.

What about their illegal downloads? J/p

No illegal downloads. They understand the consequences of stealing an artists work.

Don't be naive. You can't control everything. They will get it from their friends.

I doubt many people on DCUM know what that is.

Not at all naive. I know precisely what music they have. Besides they have a strong moral compass. Not ever kid thinks stealing is okay.

Your firm stance is so laughable. I'm sure Billy Ray thought the same things.

Can we stick with the original question?

LL Cool J - Jingling Baby
Tribe Called Quest - Check the Rhime
Missy Elliott - Work It

My DDs are exposed to all sorts of music from rock, pop, new wave, house and jazz. We also have a lot of conversation about the lyrics, artistry and history of hip-hop.

Let's get back to the songs. I posted above, but since we aren't restricted to rap/hip hop, the album I have on repeat is the Alabama Shakes, pp with the kids who don't like current music, you should play that one for them.

Homework assignment: Ask your children what they are listening to and come back w/ a song.

Not the PP by my kids will come back with "The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, etc". None of them are rap music kids. They prefer classic rock. My oldest doesn't think good music was made after 1990 and that some of the 80s were debatable.

We've apparently raised old souls

Most go through this phase. Don't be pissed off when they move on. Probably indie rock next.

Rap can't touch the above. And you will never hear Zeppelin or the Beatles calling any woman a whore or bitch. Rock on!!
